The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) issued a stop-work notice over work for a proposed salon and spa at Ajay Devgn’s 7,802-square-foot bungalow at Plot S-10, N S Road No. 11, in Mumbai’s JVPD Scheme. The Kapol Co-operative Housing Society objected to the proposed commercial use. The BMC’s K-West ward sought permissions from the owners; after documents were not produced at that stage, it issued the notice. The Devgn family has sought four weeks to respond and submit documents. Residents cited concerns about customer movement, parking, security and noise on the area’s narrow internal roads. A source close to Devgn said the necessary approvals had been obtained. The bungalow has reportedly been leased to Florian Hurel Salons Pvt Ltd under a five-year registered leave-and-licence agreement. The BMC will assess whether the submitted approvals cover the proposed commercial activity.

The Bombay High Court cancelled the auction of leasehold rights to an 852-sq-metre plot in Mumbai’s JVPD Scheme, Vile Parle, and forfeited the ₹10 lakh earnest money deposits paid by each of five bidders. The auction was advertised on January 22, 2026; the bidders submitted offers on February 4. Four bids ranged from ₹85 lakh to ₹1 crore. Swarnim Gems & Jewellers Pvt Ltd initially bid ₹6.03 crore, while Anay Shah raised his bid to ₹9.50 crore. After the company’s director, Mahesh Soni, left the courtroom to consult a co-director and Shah followed, the company bid ₹9.75 crore; Shah declined to bid higher. The court found possible collusion and underbidding. It said the government valuer’s ₹64.47 lakh valuation was unrealistic. A bidder said he was willing to offer ₹15 crore but had been asked to keep quiet. The court directed the deputy sheriff to obtain a fresh valuation before a new auction.

The 200-acre Juhu-Vile Parle Development Scheme (JVPD), including 42 acres of internal roads, has 702 plots and 14 cooperative societies. Planned in the 1950s as a middle-class enclave of bungalows and buildings no higher than two to three floors, it is now seeing bungalows replaced by residential towers as expanding joint families move into larger apartments. Property prices in some new luxury towers range from ₹70,000 to ₹80,000 per square foot. Bollywood figures including Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Shatrughan Sinha, Rakesh Roshan and Jeetendra moved to JVPD in the early 1970s, drawn by its privacy and green, open spaces.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will replace the old Irla Nullah bridge near the Juhu Vile Parle Development (JVPD) scheme, after it was declared unsafe and unsuitable for repairs in 2022. The project will cost ₹10.24 crore, with a 15-month deadline; the contract has been awarded to M/s Samruddhi Enterprises.

The 22-metre-wide replacement will be built in phases, closing one lane at a time, after the BMC obtains a traffic-diversion No-Objection Certificate from Mumbai Traffic Police. Traffic may alternatively use a road behind Chandan Cinema near the PVR multiplex. Temporary measures kept the existing bridge open because it is the only route linking Moragaon and JVPD.

The bridge is part of the ongoing Bandra–Versova section of the Mumbai Coastal Road project and will serve as a feeder route. It will improve connectivity for Moragaon, Juhu and surrounding areas. A proposed Development Plan road near Ritumbara College could further ease congestion at the JVPD junction. Built before the BRIMSTOWAD project, the bridge has utilities and a water main beneath it; the replacement will be raised to avoid monsoon floodwaters.
