A netizen flagged visible joints resembling cracks near Vijay Garden Metro Station, close to Cosmos Jewels and Kasarvadavli Police Station on Metro Line 4. User Sachin Shingare posted to Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority on X urging inspection and repair if required, clarifying that if marks are natural structural joints there may be no issue.

The report follows a parapet wall collapse on February 14 in Mulund West on the same Metro Line 4, where debris fell on a passing autorickshaw and car, killing one passenger and injuring three others. One injured remains critical.

Following the Mulund incident, authorities announced formation of a 13-member Special Intensive Safety Inspection Team to examine possible lapses and assess structural risks along Metro Line 4. The entire Mumbai Metro Line 4 will be inspected, with the team tasked to conduct comprehensive review of all ongoing works including verifying whether actual construction aligns with approved architectural drawings.

MMRDA successfully conducted technical inspection and trial run of Metro Line 4 and 4A priority section. Trial run covered 4.4-km stretch between Gaimukh and Vijay Garden, passing through four stations: Gaimukh, Govaniwada, Kasarvadavali, and Vijay Garden.

Project Phases:

• Phase 1 (Gaimukh to Cadbury Junction): 10.5 km, 10 stations, four stations ready by December 2025, full operation by April 2026
• Phase 2 (Cadbury to Gandhi Nagar): 11 km, 11 stations, completion October 2026
• Phase 3 (Gandhi Nagar to Wadala): 12 km, 11 stations, completion October 2027

Total corridor: 35.20 km with 32 stations. Part of 58-km fully elevated metro corridor, India's largest of its kind. Project cost: Rs 15,498 crore.

Metro trains initially operate with six coaches; platforms future-proofed for eight coaches. Expected to benefit 21.6 lakh commuters daily; travel times reduced 50–75%.

Maharashtra minister Pratap Sarnaik announced that the Thane Metro’s Gaimukh–Kapurbawdi corridor has completed its trial run, with operations expected to begin by December. It is expected to improve connectivity and ease road congestion for residents of Gaimukh, Kasarvadavali, Waghbil, Manpada, Tiku Ji Ni Wadi, Dongripada, Vijay Garden and Kapurbawdi, offering another option for daily travel.

Separately, several hundred residents protested the proposed revised Internal Ring Metro route, demanding restoration of the original alignment. The protest began in Swatantryaveer Savarkar Nagar with a community meeting and signature campaign; residents later formed a human chain from Aai Mataji Chowk to Lokmanya Nagar TMT Depot. They objected to the revised route through Lokmanya TMT Depot, Aai Mata Temple, Korus Road, Vartak Nagar Naka and Shastri Nagar, citing tree cutting, possible displacement of thousands and potential traffic problems.
