Girder erection work on the pedestrian bridge near Mullabagh Bus Depot at Brahmand Junction will be carried out by RPS PRS Joint Venture Pvt. Ltd. Work begins 11:55 pm Friday May 8 and continues till 11:55 pm Saturday May 9, then resumes 11:55 pm May 9 till 6 am May 10.

All vehicle types prohibited on the stretch from Brahmand Signal on Ghodbunder Road towards Kapurbawdi via Manpada-Brahmand Signal. Vehicles from MG Motors showroom area towards Manpada Bridge also prohibited.

Exemptions: police vehicles, fire brigade, ambulances, green corridor vehicles, oxygen gas vehicles and essential service vehicles.

Alternative routes:

• Towards Kapurbawdi: left turn from Brahmand Signal via Brahmand Circle, Azadnagar Road, junction opposite Lodha Amara, and Kolshet-Dhokali Road
• From Ghodbunder Road: left turn near Nagori Tea Stall using slip road near Manpada Bridge via Tikujini Wadi Circle and road opposite Vihang/Variant Nilkanth Green near Mullabagh

Heavy vehicles advised to avoid affected stretch. Restrictions within Kasarvadavali Traffic Sub-Division limits.

Brahmand Signal (towards Manpada/Kapurbawadi): No entry for all vehicles. Alternate route via Brahmand Circle → Azad Nagar Road → Lodha Amara Junction → Kolshet-Dhokali Road → Kapurbawadi.

Manpada Flyover (near MG Motors Showroom): No entry for vehicles ascending towards Thane. Use slip road → Nagori Tea Stall → Tikujini Wadi Circle → Variant Neelkanth Greens road → Rejoin via Mullabaug Cut.

Exemptions: Emergency and essential services including police, fire brigades, ambulances, Green Corridor movements and oxygen tankers.

The Kasarvadavali flyover on Ghodbunder Road was closed to traffic on Sunday afternoon following a complaint about possible irregularities near sections adjoining the flyover's protective barrier. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) initiated a safety inspection as a precaution.

Visuals from the site revealed deep cracks and fissures along parts of the safety parapet wall and concrete side barriers. The inspection will determine whether the reported irregularities are cosmetic, require repairs, or indicate a serious structural concern.

The closure immediately disrupted traffic along Ghodbunder Road. Vehicles were diverted to the road beneath the flyover, significantly increasing pressure on an already heavily used stretch and triggering long queues between Kasarvadavali and Brahmand.

The Kasarvadavali and Anand Nagar areas have witnessed substantial residential development with growing housing complexes adding to traffic volume. The flyover was originally developed by MMRDA to reduce traffic pressure in the area.

There is currently no confirmed timeline for reopening. Citizens have called for accountability if construction-related shortcomings are established, along with independent structural audits and durable reinforcement.
