Thane is aptly called city of lakes and the upvan lake is indeed the jewel of thane. Surrounded by the lush green yeoor hills, this is the beautiful lake which is full of water round the year. With access to all the sides of the lake, it's a favourite location for day picnics or even casual outings among young, old and kids - all of them. There is a beautiful shiva statue right in the middle of the lake. The bhakti-ganesh mandir on the side of the lake also is very beautiful and a must visit to the visitors to the lake. The road that snakes around the lake is similar to queen's necklace.
