Panchpakadi was the central part of Thane city till about a decade or so until Thane began to grow as a city by leaps and bounds extending boundaries, almost about 15 kms from Thane station. The crowd is a cosmpolitan which earlier used to be either Marathi or Gujarati. The Thane Municipal Corporation and the Kachrali lake add essence to the area. It has schools,colleges,hospitals,malls,restaurants,gyms in the vicinity. The area off late has developed into a hot spot eating area with udupi restaurants, concept restaurants,international fast food joints,major ice cream parlours,Chat food joints. Has a major potential of redevelopment and cluster development. It is a peaceful area and safe for females even during night at late hours.

Kherwadi police registered a case against an unidentified person after the official file for Plot 67 at Panchpakhadi, a prime location in Thane, went missing from MHADA Konkan Board records in Bandra East. The file is alleged to have disappeared or been removed sometime between 1990 and 2023. Shyam Pandurangrao More, 36, an authorised officer and senior clerk working as Property Manager-1 with the Konkan Housing and Area Development Board, handles records of Panchpakhadi, Majiwada, Vartaknagar and Shivainagar colonies. The issue surfaced after Jayraja Bolar Putran sought documents for Plots 67 and 68 under the RTI Act on March 23, 2023. Sachin Chavan searched records but could not locate the files. The applicant approached the First Appellate Authority and the Maharashtra State Information Commission. On May 26, 2026, Chavan told the Commission the documents remained untraceable. The Commission ordered a thorough search and directed an FIR be lodged if the file was not found. A scanned copy for Plot 68 was subsequently found, but Plot 67's original file remained missing. More approached police on July 21.

The Bombay High Court lifted a construction injunction, allowing Sheth Developers to finish Vasant Lawns Building 8 within six months and seek an occupancy certificate.

The Bombay High Court quashed a Thane District Court injunction and allowed Sheth Developers to complete Building 8 of the nine-building Vasant Lawns project in Thane within six months, then apply for an Occupancy Certificate. The ruling benefits more than 126 flat purchasers. The district court’s May 22, 2024, order had halted construction and barred further Thane Municipal Corporation permissions.

The project began in 2005; its first seven buildings were completed and handed over. Their housing societies sued in 2022, seeking restoration of the original layout and alleging deficient amenities, improper disclosures, and unauthorized use of additional FSI and TDR. They claimed 99% of project FSI had been consumed by 2013 and later revisions breached MOFA. The developer said revised plans, including changes to Buildings 8 and 9, were municipally approved.

The High Court found objections were delayed and reverting to the 2005 plan impractical. It said the revised plan increased green space under DCR, set aside an inquiry into municipal officers, and directed an expedited trial, leaving all contentions open. A request to stay the judgment was denied.
