Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) collected Rs 625 crore in property tax. This represents an increase of Rs 122.78 crore compared to the previous year (till March 2020), when TMC collected Rs 502 crore. The collection growth is 24.45%.

Thane residential prices rose 60% over five years and 46% between Q2 2022 and Q2 2025, from ₹13,550 per sq. ft. to ₹19,800 per sq. ft., according to Anarock.

The Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA), a statutory authority under Indian Railways, is re-developing Thane railway station with an 11-storey building on the east side near platform 10A. The 9,000 sqm project, developed in collaboration with Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) under the Station Area Traffic Improvement Scheme (SATIS E), will include: basement for parking and services, ground floor, mezzanine floor for railway facilities, concourse level for bus movement, and eight additional floors (1st to 8th) for commercial use. The RLDA has invited Expressions of Interest for leasehold rights to the commercial floors.
