Sarnaik conducted detailed review of 11 stalled SRA projects in Ovla-Majiwada Assembly constituency at SRA office near Khewra Circle. Several slum redevelopment projects remain incomplete for 18-20 years; residents await permanent homes and some face delayed rent payments. Projects reviewed include Gandhinagar, Hardas Nagar, Chiragnagar, Laxmi-Chiragnagar, Majiwada, Shastrinagar, and Subhashnagar. Sarnaik instructed authorities to identify developers unwilling or unable to complete projects and remove them, transferring responsibility to capable, financially equipped developers. He criticized handling of Subhashnagar and Gandhinagar projects involving former Shiv Sena corporator Sanjay Pandey, stating redevelopment projects should not be approved to serve developer financial interests. Sarnaik warned against using political party affiliations as shield for commercial interests and stated legal action should be taken against those responsible for such practices. He stated welfare of economically weaker residents must remain priority and political affiliations should not delay projects. Residents of Subhash Nagar have been waiting for homes nearly two decades. Sarnaik expressed support for cluster development projects.

After the Wetland Grievance Redressal Committee complained about alleged mangrove destruction and land reclamation near the Rabodi helipad, Thane Municipal Corporation inspected the site. Its report confirmed landfilling was underway and attributed it to the Thane police department. On January 9, TMC’s environment department wrote to the senior inspector of Rabodi police station about mangrove and tree felling behind Akashganga Complex in Shivaji Nagar, Rabodi. Chief Environment Officer Manisha Pradhan said the police were carrying out the landfilling and called for appropriate action.

• The Airoli-Kalwa elevated railway corridor was announced in 2014 and initiated in 2016, but is still incomplete in 2025.
• One construction phase is finished, but the second and most important stretch is stalled because resettlement and rehabilitation of 786 project-affected people is unfinished.

Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MahaMetro) awarded Turbhe-based Assystem STUP the design tender for Waterfront, Waghbil, Vijayanagari, Dongripada, Manpada and Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar Auditorium stations on the ₹12,200 crore Thane Integral Ring Metro. Tenders have also been floated for general consultants; topography and underground-utility surveys are underway to establish the alignment and identify cables and pipelines requiring relocation. MahaMetro has opened an office at Pokhran No. 2 and begun mobilising staff. The 29-km corridor along Thane’s western periphery will have 22 stations: two underground and 20 at grade. The project, transferred from Thane Municipal Corporation to MahaMetro, is funded equally by the Union and Maharashtra governments. About ₹4,500 crore will come from bilateral agency support and financing mechanisms including station naming rights, asset monetisation and value-capture financing. Forecast daily ridership is 647,000 in 2029, 761,000 in 2035 and 872,000 in 2045; PHPDT forecasts are 23,320, 29,489 and 31,393, respectively.
