• Naupada police in Thane filed an FIR against seven accused: P Abdul Nasir, P Abdul Gafar, Manilal Chheda, Subhash Chheda, Vijay Chheda, a finance company, and an assistant sub-registrar.
• The case involves alleged cheating in the registration and sale of Shop No. 1 near Thane Railway Station, valued at about ₹7.50 crore.
• Complainant Kanchan Deepak Ghansani said her husband ran a pav bhaji shop on Thane Station Road and later bought the shop through a sale deed dated 8 January 2019.
• The couple approached a finance company for a loan of ₹6.60 crore; the amount was sanctioned and transferred to Chheda’s accounts.
• The FIR cites sections 420, 467 and 471 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and section 82 of the Notary Act.
• Ghansani alleged that TMC records showed Shop No. 1 was not approved, while the sanctioned plan had two front shops and one office at the back.
• She said the accused altered three approved units into one unit and used bogus maps and documents in the registration process.
• Ghansani also alleged the area had illegal encroachments and that the property was being used commercially though it should have been residential.
• A team from Thane Municipal Corporation inspected the site on 12 September, and she later received the report through RTI.
• Police said the investigation is ongoing.

• Naupada Police in Thane booked four people — Abdul Mabood Khan, Firoja Abdul Mabood Khan, Adil Khan and Umer Shaikh — for forgery and cheating.
• The case was filed by Shahaz Abdul Maroof Khan under IPC sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471 and 34 on 7 September 2024.
• The complainant said her husband was murdered in 1996 and his property documents were handed to his brother, Abdul Mabood Khan.
• She later received a court summons in a civil case filed by a third person and then found a forged death certificate.
• She also learned that a forged power of attorney had been created to try to grab the husband’s property in Dawala, Kausa, Karjat, Shelu and other places.
• Police are checking the property documents; no arrests have been made yet, said police inspector Sharad Kumbhar.

Thane Municipal Corporation collected ₹556.19 crore in property tax in 2025-26, more than ₹200 crore below its ₹841 crore target. Commissioner Saurabh Rao ordered officials to stop water supply to defaulters in residential buildings and seize and seal non-residential properties with unpaid dues. Special tax-payment camps will be held in large housing complexes.

Thane Municipal Corporation announces 24-hour water supply suspension on November 10 in parts of Uthalsar and Naupada wards due to ongoing construction of new water tank at Siddheshwar water reservoir. Main 600mm-diameter pipeline supplying water to Kolbad area will be affected and needs relocation. Pipeline shifting work scheduled November 10 from 9 am for 24-hour period. After water supply restoration morning of November 11, residents may experience low water pressure for one to two days.
