The devices had been installed to prevent wrong-way driving and reduce accidents and congestion on the station approach. Police plan to install CCTV cameras and review complaints to determine whether pedestrians were walking against traffic; they may adjust the spikes’ angle if needed. The road is congested, particularly during peak hours, and pedestrians have limited walking space. DCP Traffic Pankaj Shirsat said the devices would remain deactivated until CCTV cameras are installed.
