• The proposed flyovers at Karve Statue and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Chowk in Warje will carry road traffic below and the Metro viaduct above. Their combined preliminary estimate, including viaduct works, is ₹404 crore, based on 2021 rates with escalation to 2026; the tendered cost could vary by up to 10%.
• The 1.6-km Karve Statue flyover will run from near the Hanuman temple at Karishma Chowk on Karve Road to the Hotel Mirch Masala area near Dahanukar Colony. Its estimate is ₹327 crore; road widening is needed at some locations.
• The 500-metre Warje flyover will run from near D-Mart Chowk to about 50 metres before Canal Road. Its estimate is ₹77 crore.
• MahaMetro has asked Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to fund the additional construction cost. PMC says it will bear the project cost but will scrutinise estimates and designs through a mutually agreed third party. Formal cost-sharing confirmation is pending; PMC approval for the Karve Road flyover was expected within a week. Approvals and tendering are next.

Pune Municipal Corporation plans two flyovers on Karve Road at Karve Statue Chowk and Ambedkar Chowk in Karvenagar, linking the area to the Mumbai-Bengaluru bypass. They will be developed alongside the proposed Pune Metro line from SNDT to Manikbaug via Warje; officials say major road works will be difficult after the metro opens. The stretch between Paud Phata and Warje will then have three flyovers, including the existing one at Karvenagar. The Ambedkar Chowk proposal dates to 2018 and has been revived with the addition of the Karve Statue Chowk flyover.

Before construction, PMC will conduct seven-day automatic-camera traffic surveys covering weekdays and holidays, assessing flow, travel patterns, speeds, delays, congestion, signals and junction waiting times. Studies will cover traffic modelling and impacts, land acquisition and affected owners, tenants and structures, five years of accident records, environmental effects on water, greenery, wildlife, air and noise, and possible resident relocation. A financial assessment will estimate land, construction, utility-shifting and maintenance costs, as well as benefits including travel-time and fuel savings, reduced pollution and commuter stress.

• Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) plans flyovers at Karve Statue Chowk and Ambedkar Chowk in Karvenagar to ease congestion on Karve Road, which connects the locality to the Mumbai-Bengaluru bypass.
• The Ambedkar Chowk flyover, first proposed by the state government in 2018 but never built, will be revived. With the existing Karvenagar flyover, the stretch from Paud Phata to Warje will have three flyovers. The existing flyover will be integrated with the elevated Metro route; the two new flyovers will be coordinated with the Pune Metro spur from SNDT to Manikbaug via Warje.
• PMC will conduct a week-long weekday and weekend traffic survey using automated cameras, plus origin-destination studies, traffic counts, speed and delay analysis, simulation modelling, impact assessments, and reviews of signal timings and surrounding congestion.
• The study will include land acquisition details for landowners, tenants and occupants, including built-up area and construction information; five years of accident data; and an Environmental Impact Assessment covering water bodies, greenery, wildlife, noise, air quality and resident rehabilitation.
• PMC will assess construction, maintenance, land acquisition and utility-shifting costs, as well as benefits including travel-time and fuel savings, reduced pollution and commuter well-being. Officials aim to complete upgrades before the Metro corridor opens, when major road interventions may no longer be feasible.
