Wagle Estate is being positioned as Thane’s equivalent of Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex.

Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), Thane traffic police and the Thane Small Scale Industries Association (TSSIA) met to plan relief from congestion and illegal parking in Wagle Industrial Estate and adjoining areas. Police advised TSSIA to appoint a traffic consultant; recommended measures will be considered after the study, with police logistical support.

Four traffic personnel have been assigned to Wagle Estate, and a WhatsApp group with officers, TSSIA members and industry representatives aims to resolve complaints within 10 minutes. Around 35 representatives from Thane, Wagle and Upvan industrial areas attended the meeting, chaired by TSSIA president Sandeep Parikh and general secretary Bhavesh Maru. Issues included abandoned vehicles, double parking, roadside eateries, dumpers, garbage and lack of pedestrian space. TMC’s Hemant Gohil said obstructive hawkers and encroachments would be moved to designated zones.

Plans include P1–P2 parking, converting selected roads to one-way after a study, four TSSIA-appointed wardens and action against illegal parking outside industrial gates within 30 days.
