ICICI Bank leased 129,136 sq ft across floors 13–16 at Arihant Aura in Turbhe from Arihant Superstructures under four agreements signed on December 12, 2024. The nine-year lease is priced at ₹58 per sq ft, or ₹74.89 lakh monthly and almost ₹9 crore annually, with a 14% rent escalation every three years.

India’s office sector recorded 89 million sq ft in gross leasing volume across the top eight cities in 2024, while net absorption reached a record 50 million sq ft. Bengaluru led with 25.93 million sq ft (29%), followed by Mumbai with 17.84 million sq ft (20%) and Delhi-NCR with 13.14 million sq ft (15%). In Q4 2024, IT-BPM accounted for nearly 30% of demand, engineering and manufacturing 23%, BFSI 16% and flex offices nearly 14%.

Tunneling has been completed on the Kharghar-Turbhe Link Road (KTLR) being constructed for better connectivity in Navi Mumbai.

Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) announced a 10% water cut across the city from Monday, with Morbe dam’s water stock below 20%. Usable stock is 36.87 million cubic metres (MCM), against the dam’s 190.89 MCM capacity. NMMC cited evaporation from high temperatures, rising consumption and uncertainty over monsoon conditions linked to El Niño and the Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD). The restrictions will continue until satisfactory rainfall improves reservoir levels.

Evening supply will be suspended twice weekly on a rotating basis: Belapur and Vashi on Mondays and Thursdays; Nerul and Koparkhairane on Tuesdays and Saturdays; Turbhe and Ghansoli on Wednesdays and Sundays. Airoli will have no evening supply on Fridays because of maintenance shutdowns linked to the Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran system; Digha’s supply will depend on its maintenance schedule. Supply from the Morbe system to CIDCO’s Kharghar and Kamothe nodes will be completely suspended every Friday for pipeline maintenance. Municipal commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde urged residents to conserve water.

Navi Mumbai’s Morbe dam has 190.890 million cubic metres (MCM) of gross capacity, but storage is 72.262 MCM (37.85%). After a mandatory one-month emergency reserve, usable storage is 41.662 MCM (21.82%), enough for 82 days at current drawal. NMMC draws 476.85 million litres per day (MLD) of raw water from Morbe and supplies 415.40 MLD of treated water through more than 1.27 lakh connections; Barvi provides supplementary supply. No water cuts have been announced, but NMMC is preparing a summer contingency plan and may consider restrictions.

The IMD forecasts the monsoon at 92% of the Long Period Average, with onset around June 10 or 11. Morbe catchment averages 3,617 mm of annual rainfall; about 3,500 mm usually fills the reservoir, but officials estimate 3,600 mm may now be needed. At 92% of normal, rainfall could be around 3,327 mm, making a full reservoir unlikely.

A scheduled 24-hour shutdown on May 13 and 14 will cover Belapur, Nerul, Vashi, Turbhe, Sanpada, Koparkhairane, Ghansoli, Airoli, Kharghar and Kamothe. Works include Bhokarpada treatment facility repairs, Morbe pipeline leak repairs near Agroli bridge and beneath the bridge near Chikhale village, valve installation, SCADA upgrades and pre-monsoon maintenance.

The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has fast-tracked two truck terminals with a combined approved outlay of ₹205 crore, following industrial associations’ appeals and directions from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. MIDC CEO P Velarasu said work is in its final stage and both facilities will soon open.

The 2,333.27-hectare Thane-Belapur MIDC estate has more than 6,000 industrial units. Freight linked to Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), Mumbai, Pune and other centres contributes to trucks parking on roads and worsening congestion.

• Turbhe: The ₹95-crore terminal in MIDC’s D Block is ready. Accessible via General Arun Kumar Vaidya Marg, it will serve trucks waiting for warehouse slots between Kopar Khairane, Sanpada and Turbhe. An entry-fee structure is among the remaining formalities.
• Airoli: The ₹110-crore terminal at Ilthanpada, near the Digha-Airoli border, lies off Thane-Belapur Road near Digha railway station and Airoli Knowledge Park. It will intercept trucks from the Mulund-Airoli Bridge, Thane, Kalwa and northern corridors, reducing spillover on roads serving Airoli, Rabale and Mahape.

Authorities are considering links to cargo flows at Navi Mumbai International Airport and plan stricter enforcement against roadside truck parking after the terminals open.
