Noida Metro Expansion Plans Include Two Proposed Corridors

Noida Metro’s proposed expansions include a 15-km Aqua Line extension to Knowledge Park V and an 11.56-km corridor from Sector 142 to Botanical Garden.

Noida Metro’s Aqua Line has 21 active stations and connects with the Delhi Metro at Noida Sector 51. Trains average 35 km/h, with headways of 10 minutes off-peak and 7.30 minutes during weekday peaks, and 15 minutes on weekends. NMRC provides parking at 15 stations; all 21 stations, the depot and NMRC offices use solar power.

A proposed 15-km extension from Sector 51 to Knowledge Park V would have nine stations and cost ₹2,602 crore. Its first phase, from Sector 51 to Greater Noida Sector 2, would include Sector 122, Sector 123, Greater Noida Sector 4, Ecotech and Sector 2. The second phase would add Sector 3, Sector 10, Sector 12 and Knowledge Park V.

A DPR for an 11.56-km Sector 142–Botanical Garden extension, with eight stations, has been sent for approval. A proposed corridor would connect Delhi’s Shivaji Stadium with Jewar airport via Pari Chowk.

Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) plans a 7.5-km Aqua Line extension from Sector 51, Noida, to Kisan Chowk (Sector 4, Greater Noida West), adding five stations: Sector 61, Sector 70, Sector 122, Sector 123 and Greater Noida Sector 4. It is expected to serve more than 5 lakh residents who currently lack metro access.

The ₹1,500-crore project will be jointly funded by the Central Government, Uttar Pradesh Government, and Noida and Greater Noida authorities. NMRC managing director Krishna Karunesh presented the utility plan at a Public Investment Board meeting, a mandatory step before construction approval.

The line will run separately from the RRTS but connect to the proposed Ghaziabad–Jewar Airport RRTS corridor. Residents could reach Jewar Airport by metro to Kisan Chowk and then RRTS. Construction is expected to take about two years after PIB approval, with metro access anticipated in 2028–2029.
