The Bombay High Court on April 27 directed MHADA to decide within four weeks on its pending application concerning 22 tenants who have not vacated a redevelopment site in Majaswadi, Jogeshwari East. The application was reserved for orders on March 6, 2026. More than 300 families of Majaswadi Sarvodayanagar Co-operative Housing Society petitioned the court over redevelopment stalled since 2008.

The MHADA colony has 579 homes. Acme Realities Pvt Ltd was appointed developer in 2008, built three rehabilitation towers for 171 occupants and launched two sale towers, selling units to about 350 buyers. After liabilities reached ₹4,326.72 crore and Acme failed to complete the project, NCLT appointed Pune-based Mantra Developers in August 2025. Mantra committed over ₹600 crore to completion. Of 92 families still on-site, 70 vacated after rent arrears were cleared; 22 remain. The takeover required all remaining tenants to vacate. Mantra previously secured ₹340 crore from ASK Property Fund, backed by Blackstone.

The 22 tenants say they are willing to leave subject to a bank guarantee, permanent alternate accommodation agreements, market-rate rent, and clarity on corpus and outright compensation.
