The land is part of a 26-acre parcel in Survey No. 43, valued at more than ₹1,200 crore. One acre is dedicated to a power substation and nine acres were allotted to GHMC for garbage dumping and processing; the vacant remainder was gradually being encroached. HYDRAA confirmed the encroachment through a ground survey and erected boards declaring the land government-owned and protected. A temple and mosque stand on the land; HYDRAA said it would not touch the structures and would prevent further encroachment.
