A long-delayed road widening project connecting Bandlaguda Jagir with Kismatpur is set for renewed implementation after the Telangana government moved responsibility for several Greater Hyderabad road projects to Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited.

The Bandlaguda Jagir–Kismatpur corridor forms part of the Hyderabad-Bijapur National Highway network. The road is expected to be widened to 100 feet, with ₹161 crore allocated for the project. Plans to expand roads across Bandlaguda Jagir, Hydershakot and Kismatpur have been pending for several years. Surveys were conducted and funding was sanctioned, but construction did not progress. The transfer of responsibility aims to create a single implementation structure for urban and radial road projects across Greater Hyderabad, resolving coordination problems between different agencies.

Rapid residential development across the Bandlaguda Jagir-Kismatpur belt has created urgent need for the upgrade. Numerous apartment complexes and villa communities have emerged while parts of the existing road network remain narrow, some stretches only 30 feet wide. This mismatch between development and transport infrastructure has contributed to congestion. Better road capacity can improve access to residential areas, schools, workplaces and local businesses.

Road widening requires careful planning to address effects on trees, drainage, pedestrian movement and adjoining properties. Road projects should be coordinated with footpaths, drainage and public transport.

A wall blocking a road in Kismatpur was demolished on Monday by officials, and a cement road was laid the same evening. The road connects Fortune West Meadows and Sri Harshith Layout residential areas. The wall forced residents to take a longer route, adding 3 km to journeys. Municipal officials had demolished the wall earlier, but it was rebuilt, causing three years of trouble. Residents complained to HYDRAA, which coordinated with municipal authorities to remove the wall and lay the road.

Forces from the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) pulled down a compound wall on a road connecting two colonies of Kismatpura in Bandlaguda Jagir Municipality on March 17, 2025. The wall separated Fortune West Meadows and Sri Harshitha layouts, blocking access for surrounding colonies. The wall was built under the pretext of protecting the layouts. Municipal authorities had demolished it six months earlier, but the Sri Harshitha Layout owners rebuilt it. Following the demolition, a cement road was laid the same evening in coordination with municipal authorities.
