The Telangana High Court fined Aruna Agarwal, a resident of Alkapur Township, Neknampur Village, Gandipet, ₹3 lakh for unauthorised construction. Her sanctioned plan allowed a ground floor and two upper levels, but she added two extra floors and a penthouse, creating an estimated 8,000–10,000 square feet of illegal space valued at ₹3 crore–₹4 crore.

The court directed municipal authorities to consider her regularisation application after she pays the penalty. It ordered ₹2 lakh to municipal authorities for health benefits for contract sanitary workers and scavengers, and ₹1 lakh to the Telangana High Court Advocates Association’s young lawyers’ welfare fund. Status quo must be maintained meanwhile; regularisation remains subject to zonal regulations and height limits, and is not an automatic right.

Justice Bollam Vijaysen Reddy cited more than 1,38,000 pending regularisation applications in 2016, estimating the number has since exceeded 2 lakh.

Narsingi police arrested Nimmala Rajesh Goud, Nimmala Venugopal and Nimmala Sai Kiran over an alleged attempt to sell nearly 10 acres of government poramboke land in Survey No. 18, Gandipet village, Rangareddy district. They allegedly circulated fake Government Orders claiming the land had been regularised and allotted to them. Gandipet Tahsildar Srinivas Reddy filed a complaint on May 23. Police seized bank passbooks, MoUs, mobile phones and a laptop during searches.

The accused, family members of late Dasarath and Gandipet residents, had sought relief over the land in the High Court; their petitions were dismissed in October 2025. Police allege they agreed to sell it to Bolla Ramesh and Brahma Naidu for ₹3.5 crore per acre and collected nearly ₹4 crore from prospective buyers. Bolla Ramesh, Brahma Naidu, Sunil and Radhakrishna are absconding; four special teams are searching for them. Cyberabad Police advised buyers to verify title records with the Revenue and Registration Departments.

On 20 June 2025, the Forum for Good Governance (FGG) raised concerns about convention centres being built near Gandipet lake in Hyderabad, alleging violations of GO 111. Narsingi Municipality said it had no records, and FGG urged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to act.

El Niño-related rainfall deficits have reduced water levels in Hyderabad’s reservoirs. Groundwater levels in several areas have fallen 4–6 metres over six months compared with last year.

• Singur: Supplies 316 million litres per day. Its level fell from 1,709.54 feet last year to 1,689.87 feet; gravity supply to the pump house could stop after another 3-foot drop. Emergency pumping preparations are under way.
• Nagarjuna Sagar: Supplies 1,252 million litres daily in three phases. Its level was 536 feet, versus 584 feet at the end of September last year. A further 26-foot fall could disrupt supply; it may reach 510 feet within five to six months. Water would then need emergency pumping from the Puttagandi canal to Akkampalli balancing reservoir.
• Greater Hyderabad: 2,639 million litres daily are drawn from the Krishna and Godavari rivers and supplied on alternate days. Osman Sagar contributes 113 million litres daily; its level fell from 1,789.25 to 1,783.55 feet. Himayat Sagar is one foot below last year’s level.

• Ranga Reddy district received 468 mm of rainfall against a normal 547.8 mm during the 2026-27 water year through September, a 14.6% deficit.
• Of 27 mandals, 13 recorded rainfall deficits of 20%–59%, 13 received normal rainfall (between 19% above and 19% below normal), and Shabad recorded excess rainfall of at least 20%. Abdullapurmet had the steepest deficit, at 38.9%.
• Data from 84 wells showed September groundwater averaging 11.74 metres below ground level, compared with 6.31 metres in September 2025. Levels rose in one mandal and fell in 26.
• Shamshabad, Hayathnagar and Saroornagar recorded rainfall deficits. A Ground Water Department official warned of acute groundwater depletion in Gandipet and Shamshabad, where gated communities and commercial complexes are concentrated.
