Residents of Madhu Park Ridge apartments in Bandlaguda Jagir staged a protest on Friday against proposed land acquisition for the Gandhi Sarovar project under the Musi riverfront development.

Forces from the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) pulled down a compound wall on a road connecting two colonies of Kismatpura in Bandlaguda Jagir Municipality on March 17, 2025. The wall separated Fortune West Meadows and Sri Harshitha layouts, blocking access for surrounding colonies. The wall was built under the pretext of protecting the layouts. Municipal authorities had demolished it six months earlier, but the Sri Harshitha Layout owners rebuilt it. Following the demolition, a cement road was laid the same evening in coordination with municipal authorities.

The Telangana Congress government's Gandhi Sarovar project linked to the Musi Riverfront Development Project has reduced participation in the annual Ganesh laddu prasadam auction at Keerthi Richmond Villas in Bandlaguda Jagir, Hyderabad. The winning bid fell to Rs 1.01 crore this year, down from Rs 2.32 crore last year, less than half the previous amount. The Revenue department called for land acquisition inquiry on 50 villas in Keerthi Richmond Villas in May 2026. About 27 villa owners facing the threat of land acquisition did not participate in the auction this year, representing a significant drop in traditional contributions. Villa owners cited fear and anxiety over losing their properties. Around 60 to 80 owners formed four groups to bid. Initial bid was Rs 48 lakh before one villa owner raised it to Rs 1.01 crore. Proceeds from the auction go to RV Diya Charitable Trust, which supported 750 students and children, 150 patients, 300 people in skill training, and welfare of over 100 animals in the previous year.

The Ministry of Defence granted working permission to Musi Riverfront Development Corporation (MRDC) to develop 83.814 acres of defence land under Artillery Centre jurisdiction at Golconda. Defence land valued at ₹533.42 crore spread across Bandlaguda, Hyderguda and Quila Mohammed Nagar villages in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts. Pockets 2 and 3 cover 30.4688 acres in Bandlaguda (₹104.45 crore). Pocket 5 spans 39.725 acres across Bandlaguda and Hyderguda (₹260.52 crore). Additional parcels: 8.091 acres at Quila Mohammed Nagar, 5.529 acres in Bandlaguda. Approval granted under Equal Value Infrastructure policy requiring MRDC to create equivalent infrastructure benefiting the Army. Gandhi Sarovar Project at Bapu Ghat forms part of broader Musi Riverfront Development programme. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy thanked Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for approval.
