Metro Line 2B part of broader Metro Line 2 corridor (with Line 2A), connecting D N Nagar in west to Mandale in east, passing through Bandra, Kurla and Chembur. Once fully operational, expected to serve over 10 lakh commuters daily.

Project being implemented in phases due to delays; Mandale–Diamond Garden segment prioritised. Line runs on 25kV AC OHE system.

Mandale depot located on 31.4-hectare plot in Mankhurd, mostly on government-owned land, double-decker structure, capacity to stable up to 72 Metro trains.

MMRDA aims to complete trial runs soon after April 8, followed by safety inspections and approvals. Rest of Line 2B from Diamond Garden to D N Nagar remains under various stages of construction.
