Pattabiram Residents Seek Roundabout at CTH Road Junction

Residents want a roundabout at Pattabiram’s busy CTH Road junction, where they wait 15–20 minutes to cross and face risks from speeding traffic.

Key facts

Residents have urged the Highways Department to build a roundabout at the Pattabiram junction near the police station, where there is no traffic signal or safe crossing. Residents say crossing takes 15–20 minutes daily and speeding vehicles pose accident risks.

The junction is where a road overbridge from Thandarai village meets Pattabiram. The six-lane bridge has a service lane on each side, and MG Road runs from the junction to the railway station. Nearby schools, colleges and hospitals add to rush-hour traffic; police are not present at all times.

Vehicles arriving from Thandarai via Chennai Outer Ring Road and heading to the nearby Tidel Park must make a U-turn and pass beneath the overbridge. The bus terminus is beside Tidel Park and receives frequent buses.

Tamil Nadu Progressive Consumer Centre president T. Sadagopan also called for parking near the junction and said a skywalk would be safer for pedestrians than zebra crossings. Land acquisition for the roundabout has been completed.
