Maha Metro officials said residents of Kondhwa-NIBM and Yewalewadi could get an elevated Metro line by 2030-31, subject to timely statutory clearances. Surveys and alignment studies are under way for a 20km corridor from Shivajinagar to Yewalewadi via Camp and Pulgate, with a spur from NIBM to Undri. The proposed corridor would extend the broader 23km elevated Metro Line 3, being developed by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) between Hinjewadi and Shivajinagar. The Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar route is being built under a public-private partnership; Maha Metro will directly execute the 20km extension towards Kondhwa and Yewalewadi under a state government decision.

Maha-Metro invited bids to prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for proposed metro extensions connecting Pune Airport at Lohegaon and the Kondhwa–Yewalewadi/Undri area. Aarvee Engineering Consultants Ltd. and RITES Ltd. cleared the technical stage; their financial bids are due to be opened, with the lowest bidder to prepare the DPR. The studies will determine route alignments and feasibility; maps currently circulating are rough sketches, and final alignments will follow detailed studies.

Pune Metro is also preparing a driverless service on the proposed Khadakwasla–Kharadi route. Under the approved DPR for Pune Metro Line-4, trains are to use Attended Train Operation (ATO) with a train operator aboard supervising the ATO-based Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) system, said Maha-Metro Director, Systems and Operations Vinod Agarwal.

A fatal accident near Dharmavat Petrol Pump in Pisoli has highlighted dangerous conditions on Khadi Machine–Handewadi Road. Residents blame poor traffic management by Pune Municipal Corporation and Traffic Police for unsafe conditions from constant heavy vehicle movement (mixers, tankers). Rapid residential growth in Kondhwa, Undri, Pisoli, and Yewalewadi has increased traffic; the incomplete Ring Road forces all traffic through this stretch causing severe congestion. Damaged road dividers and non-functional streetlights between Khadi Machine Chowk and Hanuman Temple in Pisoli worsen nighttime safety. Traffic jams occur daily near Hanuman Temple where the road narrows, with traffic police struggling to manage peak-hour chaos. Residents and local representatives demand immediate road repairs, better lighting, strict heavy vehicle regulation, and have warned of protests if authorities do not act.

Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the newly constructed Chandan Nagar Police Station and an Integrated Command and Control Centre. He approved five police stations in Lohgaon, Laxminagar, Narhe, Manjri and Yewalewadi, sanctioned 1,000 additional personnel and said two deputy commissioner of police posts would soon be approved. He said seven new stations had been sanctioned for one city for the first time in Maharashtra’s history.

The city’s AI-powered CCTV system will support crime analysis, traffic management and public safety. Monitoring will start at Bopdev Ghat and extend to 22 other hill zones; camera faults will trigger instant alerts, with repairs promised within 24 hours. Five surveillance vans equipped with drones and public-address systems were inducted.

On 12 July 2025, MLC Yogesh Tilekar urged authorities to study a proposed Metro line between Shivajinagar and Kondhwa, citing increased commercial and residential development and growth in the Kondhwa-Yewalewadi areas.
