Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to allot 12 acres at its garbage depot in Phursungi-Uruli Devachi to Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) for a bio-CNG project, aiming to increase wet-waste processing capacity.

Aspirants for the upcoming Phursungi-Uruli Devachi municipal council election called for a reduction in disproportionately high property tax bills, saying lower bills would enable residents to pay.

Widening work on the Wadaki and Phursungi stretches of Palkhi Marg is progressing slowly, causing long peak-hour queues, dust, damaged service roads and rain-related waterlogging. Short trips take longer, while school buses, ambulances and commercial vehicles face delays. A Phursungi resident said commuters spend nearly an hour in traffic each morning and evening. Shopkeepers report falling sales as customers avoid the route and say supply deliveries are difficult; transporters face higher fuel costs and delays.

The road connects Pune’s southern outskirts with Hadapsar, Saswad and neighbouring areas. Residents have urged authorities to add workers, improve traffic management and work round the clock on critical stretches. NHAI says construction is proceeding in phases, with delays caused by utility shifting, land-related issues and the monsoon; additional resources are being deployed. The widening is intended to improve connectivity and support the annual Wari procession.

MahaMetro has floated tenders to appoint consultants for 14 proposed elevated stations on Pune Metro Phase 2’s Line 4B and Line 4C. Bids are scheduled to open on March 5, 2026.

• Line 4B: 11.35 km from Hadapsar to Loni Kalbhor, with 10 stations, including Hadapsar Phata, Manjari Phata, Wak Wasti and Loni Kalbhor.
• Line 4C: 5.57 km from Hadapsar to Saswad Road railway station, with four stations: Hadapsar Gliding Centre, Phursungi IT Park, Sulabh Garden and Saswad Road.

Consultants will handle detailed station design, including architecture, structural planning, passenger circulation and coordination with existing roads. The corridors are intended to improve access and ease commuting amid congestion in Hadapsar, Manjari, Phursungi and Loni Kalbhor, areas seeing residential and industrial development.

Maharashtra’s Cabinet Infrastructure Committee approved two Pune Metro routes costing ₹5,704 crore: Hadapsar–Loni Kalbhor and Hadapsar Bus Depot–Saswad Road Railway Station. The Pune Municipal Corporation approved the proposal in February 2025; it will now go to the State Cabinet and then the Union Government for final approval. The routes are part of the Khadakwasla–Swargate–Hadapsar–Kharadi network under Pune Metro Phase 2.

• Hadapsar–Loni Kalbhor: around 11.35 km and 10 stations, including Hadapsar Phata, Hadapsar Bus Depot, Akashwani-Hadapsar, Laxmi Colony, Manjari Phata, Draksha Baug, Toll Naka, Wak Vasti and Loni Kalbhor.
• Hadapsar Bus Depot–Saswad Road: 5.57 km, with four stations—Hadapsar Gliding Club, Phursungi IT Park, Sulabh Garden and Saswad Road Railway Station.

The State and Union Governments would contribute 20% of the estimated cost, with 60% raised through a loan. PMC will facilitate land acquisition estimated at ₹3.6 crore. Deputy Chief Minister and Pune Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar said the lines would reduce congestion on Pune-Solapur Road and provide safer, faster travel while discouraging private-vehicle use.
