The existing railway coaching and maintenance depot at Ghorpadi will be transformed into a dedicated depot for Vande Bharat trains. Work expected to start within one month. ₹90 lakh marked for upgrade. Railway Board issued work order. Central Railway will also develop dedicated maintenance depots at Wadi Bunder (Mumbai) and Ajni (Nagpur), with ₹4.75 crore allocated total.

Currently 11 Vande Bharat Express services operate across Maharashtra on routes: Pune–Kolhapur, Pune–Hubballi, Solapur–Mumbai, Mumbai–Shirdi, Mumbai–Goa, Pune–Nagpur, Mumbai–Nanded, Nagpur–Bilaspur.

Upgrade includes high-voltage power supply lines, specialised inspection systems, dedicated testing equipment. Separate track will be built for Vande Bharat trains. Plans include future expansion with additional line for Amrit Bharat coaches and three lines for LHB coach rakes.

Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) expects four to five bridge, flyover and connectivity projects to be completed by December 2026 and open in 2027; one additional bridge is scheduled for completion in March 2027. Projects include:

• The new Sadhu Vaswani Bridge, connecting the Cantonment with Koregaon Park, Yerawada and Nagar Road. Work began under a May 2023 order, gathered pace in June 2024, and is expected to finish in December 2026, with opening in January 2027.
• A ramp connecting the Pashan–Sus flyover to the Bengaluru Highway (NH-48) service road, improving access from Pashan and Sus towards Mumbai and Chandni Chowk; it is expected to open in 2027 after remaining work is completed.
• The Karvenagar–Sun City Bridge over the Mutha River, intended to connect Karvenagar and Sinhagad Road and ease congestion on Narveer Tanaji Malusare Road. The Karvenagar-side road is complete; the Sun City approach is under construction, with opening expected in January 2027.
• The Ghorpadi flyover over the Miraj railway line is about 90% complete. Asphalting, painting, utility shifting and traffic signs are due by October or November 2026; opening is expected in January 2027. It will serve travel between Ghorpadi, Mundhwa, Koregaon Park, Kharadi, the Cantonment and Pune Railway Station.

Central Railway’s Pune Division will carry out engineering, Signal & Telecommunication and Overhead Equipment works at Pune and Hadapsar yards for the Hadapsar–Ghorpadi third line. Pre-Non-Interlocking and Non-Interlocking blocks will affect trains on September 19, 20 and 21, 2026; dates refer to journey commencement.

Services will be cancelled, diverted, short-terminated, short-originated or rescheduled. Pune–Solapur Intercity trains 12169 and 12170, Pune–Daund DEMUs 71407 and 71408, and Pune–Baramati/Daund DEMUs 71411 and 71412 are among those cancelled on the listed dates. Diversions include trains routed via Lonavala, Karjat, Panvel, Kalyan, Igatpuri and Manmad, or via Satara, Miraj, Kurduwadi and Solapur; some will skip scheduled stops. Several Indore, Kazipet, Jodhpur, Amravati, Gwalior and Jabalpur services will terminate early at Khadki or Daund, while some departures will originate from Khadki or Daund. Rescheduled Pune departures include trains leaving between 17:00 and 23:20.
