Sai Layout Residents Face Decade of Repeated Flooding

BBMP Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao inspected affected areas on Sunday afternoon, where residents challenged him over the delayed response. One resident said floodwater reached hip level and tenants had left because of annual flooding. Owners said their property values had fallen, making it difficult to sell and relocate, despite paying property taxes.

Residents of Sai Layout, N C Colony in Pulikeshinagar and Yelachenahalli in Bangalore South spent the night clearing rainwater mixed with sewage from their homes. Floodwater entered water sumps, damaged appliances and contaminated tanks, which residents said they would have to pay to clean. N C Colony resident Bharati said there had been no desilting.
