BWSSB will shut the Cauvery Water Supply Scheme Phase 1 pumping station from 6 am to 12 noon on Tuesday, September 22, for emergency repairs to the Isolation Sluice Valve Bypass and Expansion Bellow of Pump No. 4. Supply is expected to resume after operations restart; restoration timing may vary. Residents were asked to store water and cooperate with officials.

Farmers in Yelahanka taluk have opposed land acquisition for the proposed Bettahalasur–Rajanukunte railway project. Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) leaders demanded that it be dropped, saying it would harm livelihoods and the local ecosystem. KRRS general secretary BG Nanjundappa said small and marginal farmers in Singanayakanahalli, Thimmasandra, Bettahalasur and nearby villages had protested the acquisition. Revised government gazette notifications for acquisition in several villages, including Bettahalasur and Rajakunte, were issued in December; notices cover fertile agricultural land.

Nanjundappa said the project was unscientific and of little public use, and could destroy trees and mango, guava and pomegranate plantations. He said Rajanakunte is 6 km from Yelahanka railway junction and urged the Railways to prioritise pending Chikkaballapur–Gauribidanur and Sathya Sai Nilayam–Chikkaballapur projects, and build railway underpasses and overpasses. Existing underpasses at Bettahalasur, Shettigere, Channahalli, Chikkasanne, IVC Road and Kodi Manchenahalli, he said, do not help villagers and farmers.
