PCMC approves new building for Sangvi Hospital

Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation approved construction of a new hospital building in Sangvi to serve the growing population with enhanced healthcare facilities.

PCMC Standing Committee, headed by municipal commissioner Shekhar Singh, approved construction of a new building for Sangvi Hospital. The existing building on Reservation No. 341 in Sangvi will be demolished. An architect will be appointed to design the modern facility. Sangvi Hospital is currently a maternity home with 16 beds capacity, daily OPD and antenatal care. Dr Laxman Gophane, health chief, stated the facility was insufficient for the growing population and citizens had demanded increased facilities. The new building is expected to cater to growing population in Sangvi and surrounding localities. The Standing Committee also approved outsourcing of manpower in hospitals including medical officers, staff nurses, and support staff. Other approved projects include new water pipelines, road resurfacing, and eco-friendly air pollution control units at Bopkhel crematorium.

Rakshak Chowk flyover opens to traffic in Pune

The newly constructed Rakshak Chowk flyover in Pimple Nilakh, Pune opened for traffic Friday, reducing congestion on the busy route between Sangvi Phata and Ravet Mukai Chowk.

The flyover at Rakshak Chowk in Pimple Nilakh was opened for vehicular movement on Friday by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Civil Engineering Department. The route is now largely signal-free. Opening expected to significantly reduce travel time between Sangvi Phata and Ravet Mukai Chowk and reduce pressure on the BRT corridor. MLA Shankar Jagtap had demanded completion of safety audit and technical inspection; following this, the civic administration completed required procedures and opened the flyover. Executive Engineer Sandhya Wagh stated the flyover will ease congestion and improve connectivity for commuters in Pimple Nilakh and nearby localities. A subway being constructed through defence land near the junction remains under construction and is expected to open in the near future. PCMC Joint City Engineer Prerana Shinkar clarified that the civic body officially opened the bridge on Thursday night, rejecting social media claims that local citizens opened it themselves. Finishing work including road work beneath the flyover and tiling work remains pending. A formal inauguration ceremony may be held after remaining work is completed; decision to be taken by municipal commissioner, mayor and general body.
