Lakdi-ka-Pul to Banjara Hills: Footpath narrows on bridge, becomes unsafe at night. Near Rayalaseema Ruchulu and Saifabad Police Station, hotels and canteens spill onto path, public toilets sit on pavement. At AC Guards, path is broken and littered. Masab Tank pavement becomes marketplace with hawkers, single-lane squeeze. Tree pits, tree trunks and two-wheelers block near 555 Restaurant. Poles outside Aqeeq restaurants and crockery shops obstruct. Kingston Hospital uses stretch for parking, Dine Hill restaurant's ramp breaks it. Near Balaji Grand Bazaar, puncture shop tyres and paan stalls take over. Bajaj Electronics area recovers briefly, then disappears where banks use for parking. Near Banjara Lake stops halfway. Opposite lane near Virinchi Hospital too narrow for two people to pass. Back at Lakdi-ka-Pul, bus stop sits on footpath; 5-6pm commuters spill onto road. Last stretch near CID Office taken by toilet block, repair shop, swing shop, restaurants.

MLA Colony and Jubilee Hills: No sidewalks in MLA Colony; house help walks 20-25 minutes through narrow lanes. People rest or sleep on footpaths where they exist. Jubilee Hills near Road No 45 bus stand has no proper sidewalk, potholes, water, footpaths not visible. Supreme Court declared walking on footpath a fundamental right but changes little on ground.

Experts Flag Faulty Designs on Hyderabad’s Suchitra–Kompally Corridor

Experts have raised design and safety concerns about the delayed ₹492-crore Suchitra–Kompally elevated corridor, where three flyovers remain under construction.

The six-lane Suchitra–Kompally elevated corridor, part of the Hyderabad–Nagpur national highway expansion, began in 2022 and was due for completion by the end of December 2024. The ₹492-crore project aims to ease traffic around Suchitra, Dairy Farm, Cine Planet, Jeedimetla, Kompally and Doolapally junctions, amid growing real estate development and residential colonies.

Experts say the storm-water drain is higher than the road, risking water stagnation. Scattered stone granules and sand have caused skidding and accidents; pedestrians face risks near MLC Colony, Dhoolapally crossroads and Devender Nagar, where there is no barricading. Civil engineer M. Surender Singh called for immediate corrections. National Highways engineering department project director Srinivas Rao said the drain was designed as a drain-cum-footpath under IRC provisions. Two of the three flyovers are expected by June 2025 and the third by December 2025.
