Mehrauli is one of the oldest historical place, surrounded by many monuments belongs to Yr 1400 or so. It is a combination of rural as well as urban establishments. As compared to any other place in Delhi, Mehrauli have less , less noise or any other kind of pollution. Mehrauli is also a favourite destination for documentaries directors and movie directors. From transportation prospective bus terminal, Metro and Auto/Taxi stand are in range of less then 1 Km. From Kitchen prospective then Mehrauli have the biggest Vegetable Mandi, where one can get fresh vegetables at very nominal price as compared to any other place which cost them 3 to 4 times. People from Vasant Kunj, Kishangarh, Chhatarpur , Saket , Hauz Khas, green park come on Saturday and sunday to buy weekly vegetables. Mehrauli also have 3 Holy places Yogmaya Mandir, Jain Mandir & Dargaha, which touch base crores of the people in India.

The project proposal will be presented before the Expenditure and Finance Committee (E&FC) for final approval. Similar work is being undertaken at Karala-Kanjhawala Road and Zakhira underpass.

The initiative is part of Delhi's new drainage master plan, a Rs 57,000-crore programme announced last month marking the first major upgrade of the capital's drainage network in five decades. It outlines a five-phase, five-year implementation plan and a 30-year roadmap to modernise stormwater systems and curb waterlogging during severe monsoons.

The identified stretches—Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, Zakhira underpass, and Karala-Kanjhawala Road—are among the most waterlogging-prone spots in the city. The Zakhira underpass features among the top ten waterlogging hotspots. Investigations revealed water accumulation there is worsened by nearby railway tracks, necessitating structural redesign.

The PWD is simultaneously remodelling the drainage system along Rohtak Road, covering an 18-km stretch. Of this, 11 km has been completed, with the remaining portion expected finished by March 2026.
