IKEA’s 30,000-sq-ft store at DLF Avenue, Saket, opens July 30. It is the retailer’s second Delhi city store and fourth in India, after outlets in Mumbai’s Worli, Pune and West Delhi’s Pacific Mall, Subhash Nagar. IKEA launched Delhi-NCR e-commerce a year ago and opened its first physical customer touchpoint in the capital. The Saket store has nine room settings and nearly 3,000 products, around 1,400 available for immediate takeaway; more than 6,900 products can be ordered online, through the app or Shop by Phone. Services include interior planning, kitchen and wardrobe consultations, assembly and installation, 5–25-year warranties and home delivery; parcel delivery starts at ₹49, and customised kitchens can typically arrive four to five days after planning. IKEA’s Ingka Centres developments in Gurugram (2027) and Noida (2028) remain on schedule. Each will include an approximately 2-lakh-sq-ft flagship store in a mixed-use destination with shopping, restaurants, offices and hospitality. IKEA aims to operate 30 stores by 2030; around 30% of products sold in India are locally sourced, and exports to IKEA stores worldwide are worth around €2 billion annually.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi is developing seven children’s parks using Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation funds: Janakpuri, Saket, Greater Kailash, Mayur Vihar, Swasthya Vihar, Karol Bagh and Mayapuri. Janakpuri will have an aeroplane-themed play structure; Mayur Vihar will get a 20–25-foot peacock installation with a playhouse and activities. Work is underway in Janakpuri and Mayur Vihar; the other parks are at an early stage.

The MCD’s horticulture department maintains more than 15,000 parks across nearly 5,200 acres and faces a shortage of gardeners. A revised policy, due in the coming weeks, will let resident welfare associations maintain parks with their own staff, with MCD financial support. Across all 12 zones, associations will receive ₹13,500 per acre per month, replacing earlier arrangements under the former East, North and South Delhi municipal corporations. Participating associations will also receive free compost from MCD green-waste management centres.

• The Delhi cabinet approved a revised ₹1,635.03 crore cost for Barapullah Phase III, an elevated road over the Barapullah drain connecting Sarai Kale Khan to Mayur Vihar. It is intended to provide signal-free connectivity from East Delhi to AIIMS in South Delhi and ease congestion near Sarai Kale Khan, Ring Road, DND Flyway and NH-24. Completion is targeted for June 30, 2026. The government referred delays to the Anti-Corruption Branch to determine responsibility.
• The cabinet also approved a ₹1,471.14 crore, six-lane elevated corridor and underpasses on MB Road, from Saket’s G-Block to Pul Prahladpur. DMRC will execute it in two phases. Phase one includes a double-decker structure from Saket G-Block to Sangam Vihar, a six-lane flyover and underpass at Saket G-Block, an elevated ramp linking the BRT corridor to the flyover, and a two-lane underpass connecting MB Road and the BRT corridor. Phase two is a 2.48-km flyover from Maa Anandmayee Marg to Pul Prahladpur, above the Metro tunnel. PWD was directed to finalise alignments from Sangam Vihar to Maa Anandmayee Marg and Pul Prahladpur to Badarpur.

Delhi Metro Phase IV includes three corridors worth over ₹14,000 crore. The Golden Line extension from Lajpat Nagar to Saket G-Block in South Delhi will be 8.385 km long, fully elevated and have eight stations.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) began construction on the Lajpat Nagar–Saket G Block corridor, part of Phase IV’s Golden Line (Line-11). A groundbreaking and first test pile were held near Pushpa Bhawan in Saket. Rail Vikas Nigam Limited is the executing agency. The corridor is the first stretch beyond Phase IV’s priority corridors to enter physical construction.

The fully elevated route will have eight stations: Lajpat Nagar, Andrews Ganj, GK-1, Chirag Delhi, Pushpa Bhawan, Saket District Centre, Pushp Vihar and Saket G Block. It will serve residential and commercial hubs including Greater Kailash-1, Saket and Pushp Vihar. Interchanges with the Violet and Pink Lines will be available at Lajpat Nagar and with the Magenta Line at Chirag Delhi, making Lajpat Nagar a triple-interchange station.

Trains are expected to carry around 900 passengers per trip, with up to 300 per coach. Projected ridership is over 1.2 lakh passengers daily by 2041.
