Two Injured After MHADA Building Portion Collapses in Masjid Bunder

A sixth-floor portion of a MHADA cessed building collapsed in Masjid Bunder, injuring two of six occupants rescued; the cause is under investigation.

On July 25, 2026, part of the sixth floor of Lokhandwala Building, a MHADA cessed building on Vithaldas Chandan Street, collapsed onto the fifth floor in Masjid Bunder. The Mumbai Fire Brigade received a report at 12:34 pm. Six occupants were inside the affected portion and all were evacuated. Bilal Shaikh, 35, and Jamshed Shaikh, 55, sustained minor injuries, were treated at a nearby private hospital and discharged. Mumbai Fire Brigade, Mumbai Police, BEST, the 108 Ambulance Service and BMC ward staff conducted the rescue and secured the site. The cause is under investigation.
