Bengaluru Plans 16.3-Kilometre Metro Link From KR Puram to Hoskote

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited is preparing a detailed project report for a proposed 16.3-kilometre KR Puram–Hoskote corridor with 11 stations: ITI Bhavan, TC Palya, Bhattarahalli, Bhattarahalli Junction, Medahalli Junction, Avalahalli, Budigere Cross, Katamnallur Gate, Hoskote Toll Plaza and Hoskote Government Hospital. The route is prioritised from KR Puram rather than as a direct Purple Line extension from Kadugodi. Its reported internal rate of return is 19%.

High-speed rail stations are planned at Hoskote for the Bengaluru–Chennai and Bengaluru–Hyderabad corridors. Near Kodihalli, a depot, workshops and operations control centre are being considered, potentially requiring 80 hectares. The Bengaluru–Chennai Expressway is open between Hoskote and Baireddypalli in Andhra Pradesh for about 100 kilometres. Highway traffic could exceed 80,000 vehicles after the Satellite Town Ring Road links to Hosur Road; a double-decker metro and road-flyover arrangement has been proposed.

Separately, BMRCL is building a 420-metre elevated section between Whitefield station and Milan Road for Rs 64.81 crore. Buildtek holds the contract, with an 18-month deadline.

GBA Orders Setback Enforcement and Road Works Across Domlur

During an inspection on September 22, 2026, Greater Bengaluru Authority Chief Commissioner M. Maheshwar Rao directed Bengaluru Central City Corporation officials to issue a notice and initiate removal action against a building under construction near Domlur that had no setbacks on any of its four sides after an old structure was demolished. He ordered immediate disconnection of electricity to a commercial building constructed without a setback.

Officials were asked to examine a vending zone or parking facility on Domlur Main Road’s wide footpath, remove walls blocking pedestrians, develop a clear walkway, develop Domlur Junction and properly repair roads. Saibaba Temple Road is to be asphalted, and roads left unrestored after BWSSB sanitary-line works are to be repaired immediately.

Rao directed officials to expedite the Wind Tunnel Underpass, around 80% complete, with box-pushing work remaining, and finish it by the end of November. At Kodihalli Primary Health Centre, he ordered a separate biomedical-waste area, CCTV cameras and adequate medicine supplies.
