During an inspection on September 22, 2026, Greater Bengaluru Authority Chief Commissioner M. Maheshwar Rao directed Bengaluru Central City Corporation officials to issue a notice and initiate removal action against a building under construction near Domlur that had no setbacks on any of its four sides after an old structure was demolished. He ordered immediate disconnection of electricity to a commercial building constructed without a setback.

Officials were asked to examine a vending zone or parking facility on Domlur Main Road’s wide footpath, remove walls blocking pedestrians, develop a clear walkway, develop Domlur Junction and properly repair roads. Saibaba Temple Road is to be asphalted, and roads left unrestored after BWSSB sanitary-line works are to be repaired immediately.

Rao directed officials to expedite the Wind Tunnel Underpass, around 80% complete, with box-pushing work remaining, and finish it by the end of November. At Kodihalli Primary Health Centre, he ordered a separate biomedical-waste area, CCTV cameras and adequate medicine supplies.

• The proposed 11.6-km elevated corridor would run from Swami Vivekananda Metro Station on Old Madras Road to Silk Board Junction, passing through Indiranagar, Domlur, Koramangala and Madiwala. Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure Limited (B-SMILE) is developing it.
• Residents, including the I Change Indiranagar group, have questioned the alignment, traffic data and consistency with Bengaluru’s Comprehensive Mobility Plan 2020, which does not specifically identify 80 Feet Road, 100 Feet Road or CMH Road for an elevated corridor. They seek more detailed studies of traffic, pedestrians and ground-level roads.
• The design includes elevated sections, ramps, existing flyovers and ground-level stretches. The DPR found tolling difficult because the corridor is fragmented and tollable traffic insufficient. It proposes value-capture financing from properties benefiting from improved connectivity; B-SMILE said this remains a draft mechanism and no property-owner levy has been imposed.
• The government aims to ease congestion and improve eastern-southern connectivity. The DPR says speeds can fall to 20–25 kmph and traffic is expected to rise significantly in coming decades. Residents seek clarity on impacts to infrastructure, pedestrians and neighbourhoods, and on alternatives and traffic below the corridor. Further studies, consultation and authority decisions will determine its progress.

An 11-km elevated corridor connecting Swami Vivekananda Metro Station to Silk Board Junction, estimated at Rs 1,300 crore, will pass through Indiranagar, Domlur, Koramangala and Madiwala. Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure Limited (B-SMILE) invited bids for the project.

The detailed project report, prepared by Siddi Shakthi Projects, rules out tolling due to the corridor's discontinuous geometry, multiple ramps and mixed urban traffic. It proposes integrating infrastructure cost recovery into property tax collected by the Greater Bengaluru Authority through value-capture financing.

Property values within the corridor's influence zone are expected to appreciate due to improved accessibility and reduced travel time. The report proposes capturing a portion of this increase through annual property tax adjustments rather than imposing tolls.

B-SMILE managing director Maheshwar Rao said no final decision on the funding model has been taken. The state government's policy requires flyovers longer than 10 km to use Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) with tolling, but if tolling is not feasible and no viable bid is received, value-capture financing may be examined.

I Change Indiranagar, a resident federation, has written to B-SMILE seeking public consultation, questioning the 24-month timeline and flagging concerns over impact on 749 trees. The nearby 2.4-km Ejipura flyover, awarded in 2017 for Rs 203 crore, remains incomplete.

Peak-hour traffic is estimated at 3,996 passenger car units per hour, projected to exceed 12,000 PCU per hour over 25 years. The directorate of urban land transport flagged concerns including gaps in alignment justification, traffic projections and design details. The corridor does not figure in Bengaluru's Comprehensive Mobility Plan.
