Navi Mumbai Airport Roads Complete but Await Inauguration

Roads, bridges and signal systems connecting Navi Mumbai International Airport with Belapur, Ulwe, Panvel, Khandeshwar, Karnjade and Kalamboli are complete but await inauguration, leaving passengers and freight vehicles without the planned access routes. The package is valued at ₹813 crore.

A key link will connect Kalamboli Junction to National Highway 548 and the airport cargo entrance, allowing containers from Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) to reach airport cargo facilities directly. The report describes it as Maharashtra’s first direct container link to an airport cargo entrance.

The National Highways Authority of India’s eastern interchange will connect to CIDCO’s SBR-9 route and the airport’s northern road network. CIDCO spent ₹191 crore on a 60-metre-wide bridge connecting the cargo entrance. Once opened, the route will link Belapur and Ulwe to passenger and cargo entrances and provide access towards Panvel, Karnjade and Kalamboli. No inauguration date was provided.
