Worli Flyover and Subway Target January 2027 Completion

BMC is targeting January 31, 2027, to complete a ₹285.61-crore Worli flyover and subway expected to cut motorists’ journeys by up to 15 minutes.

Key facts

Mumbai’s BMC is building a flyover and subway over the Nehru Science Centre drain to link E Moses Road with Annie Besant Road, bypassing Worli Naka and eliminating a nearly 2-km detour. Planned in 2022, the project is targeted for completion by January 31, 2027. The 571-metre flyover is 18.3 metres wide and costs ₹285.61 crore.

Additional Municipal Commissioner (Projects) Abhijit Bangar reviewed progress and directed officials to finish pending work by the deadline, adding manpower, machinery and resources, coordinating civic departments and preparing a traffic plan with traffic police.

The 1,200-mm-diameter piling is complete on both the Nehru Science Centre and Jijamata Nagar sides. At the Nehru Science Centre end, 17 of 18 pile caps, piers and pier caps are complete; all 17 are complete at Jijamata Nagar. All 14 portal beams and 17 of 18 girder spans have been fabricated. Erection is complete for 13 portal beams and nine girder spans; deck-slab concreting is complete on seven spans and underway on two.
