IGNOU Road in South Delhi suffers poor conditions and potholes causing connectivity issues for residents across nearby localities for over a year.

Residents of South Delhi's Sainik Farm localities have struggled with poor connectivity for over a year due to IGNOU Road's deteriorating condition. The pothole-riddled stretch falls under Public Works Department (PWD) jurisdiction and has become increasingly congested, worsened by Delhi Metro's Golden Line construction. IGNOU Road connects Indira Gandhi National Open University to Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, serving residential areas: Neb Sarai, Freedom Fighters Enclave, Paryavaran Complex, and Saidulajaib village to Saket metro station. Bylanes feeding onto the main road have deep, frequent potholes. PWD online portal shows 81 complaints registered, 80 marked as closed. Footpaths are unusable due to encroachments, forcing pedestrians onto roads with vehicular traffic. Drains frequently overflow during monsoon and dry seasons. Golden Line construction (Aerocity to Tughlakabad) has severely hampered traffic movement. Supreme Court-appointed Central Empowered Committee permitted DMRC temporary use of 1.23 hectares of Ridge forest land for traffic diversion during Neb Sarai Metro station construction, with conditions that no trees be felled and land be restored. Ridge Management Board approved in April; Supreme Court final clearance pending. Two alternate routes planned with temporary paver blocks for vehicular movement. Environmentalists oppose forest encroachment.
