Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation collected ₹434.02 crore in property tax from April 1 to June 30, 2026, compared with ₹372.42 crore from 98,478 taxpayers in the same quarter of FY26. In Q1 FY27, 1,43,329 of the city’s 3,55,772 registered property owners paid. Ghansoli recorded the highest collection, at ₹80 crore.

The corporation recovered ₹23.67 crore from 15,250 chronic defaulters. Collections by property type were industrial 35.79%, residential 31.92%, commercial 22.26% and mixed/other 10.03%.

Digital payments accounted for 72.2% of collections: 1,03,473 taxpayers paid ₹280.71 crore through QR codes, UPI, net banking and cards. Bank transactions contributed ₹144.93 crore; 18.85% of taxpayers used offline methods. Personalized payment links sent by SMS and WhatsApp were used by 57,397 citizens (40.63%), generating nearly ₹58 crore. Commissioner Kailash Shinde credited technology, data analytics and digital facilities. Mayor Sujata Patil said the collections reflected citizen trust and participation in city development.

Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC)-contracted roadwork by Ashwini Infra Development Pvt. Ltd. will affect roads in the Rabale Traffic Division for 25 days from January 27. The work covers a 100-metre stretch and is expected to finish within that period, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Tirupati Kakade said.

Affected routes are Ghansoli Village–Ghansoli Junction, Sadguru Hospital–Ghansoli Sector 6, and Ghansoli Shetkari School–Sector 6 via Sadguru Hospital. Both underpasses between Ghansoli Meenatai Hospital and Ghansoli Junction will be closed.

NMMC Standing Committee rejected a proposal for a sports complex at Vashi Sector 10A. House Leader Sagar Naik opposed the project, citing unequal allocation of funds and neglect of sports infrastructure in Airoli, Ghansoli, Koparkhairane and Rabale. Proposal was defeated by majority vote with BJP having higher committee members. Belapur constituency already has sports facilities including swimming pool and indoor sports infrastructure, while Airoli Assembly constituency lacks a sports complex. Proposed project on Plot Nos. 11 and 12 at Vashi Sector 10A included hockey field, tennis courts, running track, pathways, parking and other sporting facilities. Shiv Sena members opposed rejection, arguing proposal should have been revised to include other areas lacking facilities rather than rejected outright.
