The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) fined four contractors ₹10 lakh each, totalling ₹40 lakh, for failing to install pumping machinery as required by tender conditions and operate it at full capacity. The stations serve Hindmata, Gandhi Market, Yellow Gate and Chunabhatti.

Mumbai recorded a May rainfall record, with 250 mm in many places on May 26. Water accumulated in the four low-lying areas; traffic was disrupted at Hindmata, Gandhi Market and Masjid Suburban Railway Station. Chunabhatti received less rain, but its pumps were also not operating at full capacity.

In 2023, after installing high-power pumps, BMC had declared Hindmata and Gandhi Market flood-free. The first monsoon rain brought waterlogging there, drawing criticism from citizens and the opposition.
