A section of Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway caved in at Narsingpur on Tuesday evening after heavy rain. The cave-in occurred where GMDA is constructing a stormwater drainage culvert beneath NH-8 using trenchless technology. The crater measured 10 feet long and 8 feet wide. Two lanes on the carriageway towards Jaipur were closed, and vehicles were diverted. Tailbacks extended to IFFCO Chowk, with commuters stranded for more than two hours during rush hour.

The GMDA's underground pipeline laying project near Narsinghpur on the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway faces setbacks from a gas pipeline and two high-tension powerlines running underneath the highway, obstructing the pipe installation path. The project, launched in June 2026 with NHAI, aims to prevent monsoon waterlogging on the service road near Narsinghpur village, which has suffered flooding for 15 years with water levels reaching two to three feet.

Three trenchless pipelines will divert rainwater from the Delhi-Jaipur carriageway to a newly constructed drain on the eastern side, connecting to drains from Radhakrishan Garden towards Badshahpur. Approximately 95% of trenchless piping work is completed; three to four metres of pipeline laying remains. Work has stalled after encountering the gas pipeline (Indraprastha Gas Limited) and power line cables requiring shifting coordination.

Eight high-capacity pumps have been installed: four 50 HP, one 65 HP, and three 70 HP pumps for rapid stormwater evacuation during heavy rains. Sump wells are under construction to improve rainwater collection and pumping.

GMDA has revived its plan to build sports infrastructure along the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway green belt after nearly two years on hold. The project will be developed on a 30,370 sqm site (roughly 7.5 acres) opposite Sector 15 and estimated to cost around Rs 5 crore. Facilities include futsal and basketball courts, a skating rink, a volleyball court and a padel tennis court. The project will include basic public amenities: parking space, walking tracks, toilets and seating areas. Estimated completion time is one year once allotted. The project is being taken up as a pilot.

The 60-metre-wide master road between sectors 88 and 89 in Gurgaon remained half-constructed for over 10 years due to a land dispute involving a private manufacturing unit on the planned route, which reached the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

The deadlock was resolved when Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) handed over a 350-metre land parcel to GMDA. GMDA has begun initial steps including tree surveys and utility relocation assessments. Rs 3 crore has been allocated for remaining work. Tenders will be issued soon with construction beginning after contracts are awarded.

Once complete, the road will link Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway (NH-8) to Pataudi Road and boost connectivity across sectors 82 to 89, providing easier access to Sultanpur Lake and reducing traffic stress.

GMDA also began work on a 200-metre stretch near Bestech Ananda in Sector 81, another missing link between Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway and Pataudi Road.
