AAI height restrictions imposed in 2021 because of airport high-frequency transmission towers have affected redevelopment of more than 400 buildings in D N Nagar, Andheri West. Durvankar CHS near Ganesh Chowk, also called Durvankur CHS or Building No 15, was reduced from 16 to 12 floors. The original MHADA building, built in 1968 for 40 tenants, was declared unsafe after a slab collapsed in November 2019 and evacuated the following month.

Residents appointed a developer in November 2020. In July 2021, the developer said the reduced project could incur an approximately ₹10 crore loss. At a September 2021 meeting, tenants agreed to pay ₹22.5 lakh per flat on possession, refundable after the towers are relocated and restrictions lifted. In January 2025, the developer offered to buy their flats or receive power of attorney to rent them out until restrictions are lifted.

Industries Minister Uday Samant said last week the government would complete land allocation for relocating the towers within three months, before the next assembly session, after BJP MLA Ameet Satam raised the issue in the Assembly.

Mumbai Metro Line 9 Phase 1, connecting Dahisar East to Kashigaon, is expected to open in January 2026. The ₹6,607-crore project was commissioned in October 2024 and extends Line 7, allowing trains from Mira-Bhayandar to continue to Andheri East without an interchange. At Dahisar East, passengers can interchange with Line 7 to Gundavali and Line 2A to DN Nagar, Andheri West. The Model Code of Conduct is likely to delay the inauguration until after January 15. The next phase will extend the line to Subhash Chandra Bose Stadium in Bhayandar. Line 7 is also being extended to provide future direct connectivity to CSIA.

The Airports Authority of India's high-frequency radar at Dahisar will be relocated to Gorai, unlocking approximately 1,000 acres spread over 6 km for housing projects in north Mumbai. Radar installations at Dahisar and Juhu currently restrict building heights, stalling urban development and redevelopment projects. Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu said the ministry will seek cabinet approval for relocation to enable construction to start at the earliest. The decision followed meetings involving the civil aviation ministry, Maharashtra government, and other stakeholders. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis confirmed the state government decided to shift high-frequency radar centres from Dahisar and Juhu to alternative sites. The Centre and AAI agreed to the Dahisar relocation, with Maharashtra conveying willingness to bear relocation costs and provide alternative land. Land at Gorai will be transferred free of cost to the Centre; 40% of AAI land at Dahisar will be used for public purposes. Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, representing North Mumbai, estimated 50,000 houses could be constructed or redeveloped over five years, generating employment. For Juhu, the government suggested an alternative site to AAI for technical evaluation; approval for shifting the Juhu radar will begin after technical study and site finalisation.

The Enforcement Directorate’s Mumbai Zonal Office provisionally attached land and a building in England under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002. The property is allegedly owned by Vinod Tanna and his wife; the ED said it was purchased by Jayesh Tanna in 2017 using GBP 207,000 (about ₹2.17 crore) in alleged proceeds of crime siphoned to the UK. The funds were allegedly obtained by defrauding investors and flat buyers in Mumbai redevelopment projects. Total property seized in the case has reached ₹35.65 crore.

The ED began its probe in 2024 following multiple Mumbai Police FIRs against Jayesh Tanna, Deep Tanna, Sai Group promoters and others under various IPC sections; chargesheets have been filed in most cases. The ED alleges funds from flat and shop buyers in proposed projects were diverted for personal use, leaving projects incomplete and causing estimated losses of ₹85.75 crore to buyers, original society members and investors in D N Nagar, Andheri, Kandivali and Goregaon.
