Hyderabad Property Owners Protest 22A and ULC Registration Blocks
Telangana Today · · Regulatory
Hundreds of Hyderabad property owners protested 22A-list and Urban Land Ceiling restrictions that prevented sales and registrations, seeking relief from the Telangana government.
Key facts
- Hundreds of Hyderabad property owners affected by 22A prohibited-list entries and Urban Land Ceiling (ULC) restrictions gathered at Telangana Bhavan seeking relief, alleging arbitrary decisions and financial distress. They told former ministers T Harish Rao and P Sabitha Indra Reddy they could not sell, register or access the value of properties bought with valid documents.
- Mohan Reddy said registration was blocked after he booked a slot and paid full stamp duty. Rajesh, who bought a house with a bank loan in 2017, said a July 1 sale registration was stopped because the property was on the 22A list; his application to the MRO office two months earlier remained unresolved. A prospective buyer was paying the EMI after bank approval to transfer the loan.
- HMT Housing Colony Society secretary Devender Rao said its layout was approved in 1995 and survey number 330 was recently added to the 22A list. A July representation to Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy brought no relief.
- Residents said B N Nagar and Uppal, including a colony with over 1,500 houses, now faced ULC-related registration blocks. Ameenpur resident Srinivas said his property, bought 10 years earlier with clear documents and a bank loan, was barred from sale after he paid stamp duty.
- Victims alleged listings by survey number lacked valid reasons and claimed restrictions enabled commissions and settlements. Harish Rao and Sabitha Indra Reddy pledged BRS support in and outside the Assembly and continued agitation.
