A property dispute involving late actress Sridevi's family reached the Supreme Court. The court issued notices to producer Boney Kapoor and daughters Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor over a 2.70-acre property in Sholinganallur near East Coast Road, Chennai. Sridevi, her mother and sister purchased the property in 1988. M.C. Sivakami and M.C. Natarajan are claiming a share and challenged the land purchase documents. The Madras High Court rejected their case earlier in 2026, stating they took too long to challenge the 1988 transactions and lacked strong legal basis. The petitioners approached the Supreme Court, which issued notices to the Kapoor family and ordered both sides to maintain current property status until the next hearing. The court suggested mediation overseen by a retired High Court judge. Next hearing scheduled for December 18. This is not a final ruling against the Kapoor family.

Chennai Metro Phase II extension along Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR) set for completion in two years. Sholinganallur station designed as major interchange with multi-tiered structure: Corridor 5 platform at 28.8 metres from road, Corridor 3 platform at 21.8 metres. Station features perpendicular plus-shaped layout enabling seamless transfers between Corridor 3 (Madhavaram–SIPCOT) and Corridor 5 (Madhavaram–Sholinganallur). Trains from Corridor 5 curve through fifth floor of adjoining eight-storey building before reaching Corridor 3 platform. Building includes parking on first floor, upper floors for offices or retail (no passenger boarding). Grade separator on second level; first level plaza for leisure and commercial activities. Thoraipakkam station will have similar multi-level design. Sholinganallur is only transfer point between Corridors 3 and 5 on this stretch. Plaza modelled after Kathipara Urban Square.

Sholinganallur, the hub of real estate activity along the Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR), is set to see the addition of over 5,000 high-end residential units in highrise buildings by next year.
