A day after the first northeast monsoon rains flooded southern Chennai on Tuesday, water had receded in most affected areas by Wednesday. Waterlogging continued in Kamaraj Nagar, Thiruvanmiyur; Rajaji Nagar, Madipakkam; and Sai Balaji Nagar, Pallikaranai.

Residents of Tambaram and Chromepet said some stormwater drains remained uncleared.

Perumbakkam Main Road had craters and potholes, while roads and service roads in Perungudi, Thoraipakkam and Sholinganallur were in poor condition. MGR Main Road, linking Velachery and Taramani to the IT Expressway and serving IT and ITES companies, had roadworks dug along both sides of its median.
