Hyderabad Announces Four Major Western-Corridor Infrastructure Projects

HMDA announced a ₹1,656-crore elevated corridor and three other western Hyderabad projects to improve connectivity and ease traffic congestion.

  • HMDA’s ₹1,656-crore, 9-km elevated corridor will connect Banjara Hills with Shilpa Layout in Kothaguda, providing signal-free access to the Outer Ring Road at Gachibowli. Phase one covers 5 km between Film Nagar and Shilpa Layout; phase two covers 4 km between the Integrated Command & Control Centre tower and Hakimpet Kunta. The 4- and 6-lane at-grade and elevated route will have six entry/exit points at Road No. 82 (Film Nagar), Narne Road, Road No. 52, ITC Kohenur Road, T-Hub Junction and Auro Realty Junction. Defence-land clearance is pending for part of the alignment.
  • A ₹488-crore Budvel trumpet interchange linking the second radial road, ORR and Budvel layout is at tender stage; it will connect Budvel, Musi Riverfront, Gachibowli, Shamshabad and Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, funded by HMDA infrastructure bonds.
  • HGCL will build a 3.57-km pipeline road from MGIT on Shankarpally Road to Manikonda. Sanctioned at ₹110 crore, it includes a six-lane carriageway, 10-metre median, footpaths, drainage, culverts, minor bridges, junction improvements and landscaping.
  • ORR’s left carriageway between Nanakramguda and Gachibowli will widen from three lanes to four to address congestion near flyovers towards Kondapur and Shilpa Layout. Tenders for the ₹26.50-crore work begin January 27, 2026.

Hyderabad has proposed a nine-kilometre elevated corridor from Banjara Hills to Shilpa Layout, subject to an HMDA feasibility study.

The state government has proposed a nine-kilometre elevated link from the ICCC near Banjara Hills Road No. 12 to Shilpa Layout Flyover Road. It is designed to accommodate future Metro Rail on the same pier system and ease bottlenecks at Filmnagar, Road No. 45, Jubilee Hills Checkpost, Hitec City approach road and the wider IT corridor. The project aims to improve mobility, reduce pollution from idling vehicles and enhance transport efficiency in western Hyderabad.

HMDA will study structural alignment, land acquisition, environmental impact and traffic patterns. If viable, the project may proceed under the DBFOT model. HMDA will appoint technical, financial and legal consultants to prepare the feasibility report, DPR and bid documents. Consultants will assess traffic demand, preliminary road and bridge structures, utility relocation and costs; field surveys will finalise alignment, bridge locations and intersection layouts. Two other elevated corridors have been cleared: Paradise Junction–Shamirpet ORR and Paradise Junction–Dairy Farm Road on NH-44.
