Vasavi Group unveiled Vasavi Skyla at Hitec City, Hyderabad, one of two prestigious gated communities (the other being Vasavi Atlantis at Narsingi). The launch was attended by Member of Parliament Kotha Prabhakar Reddy and actor Mehreen Pirzada. The project targets the heavy influx of residents in the IT hub with a walk-to-work concept.

Kudi Kunta lake in Kondapur, Masjid Banda, Hyderabad inaugurated after nearly 10 years of restoration by residents, volunteers and government agencies. Remote sewage treatment plant treats over 7 million litres per day of wastewater, stopped untreated sewage entering lake, increased water storage capacity by nearly 40%. Revival began 2016 with local clean-up drives. By 2022, over 46 clean-up campaigns conducted, over 250 official meetings held, nearly 2,500 days of voluntary effort invested. Sewage inflow rose from 1.2 MLD (2016) to over 6 MLD (2022) with urban growth. Forest department allotted one acre for STP located away from lake's green zone. Treated water reused for irrigation and ecological recharge, benefiting Hyderabad Botanical Garden and Palapitta Park. Approximately 60,000 fish introduced; committees formed for fisheries management and protection. Lakeside deck built for yoga and community events, rental income used for maintenance. Nearly 600 apartment complexes contribute Rs 50 per month; organisers hope more of 2,000 apartments and 8,000 nearby residents will join. Sensors monitor water and air quality with expert analysis.

Heavy overnight rainfall beginning around 1.40 am lashed Hyderabad early Thursday, causing severe waterlogging and traffic disruption in Lingampally, Chandanagar and Serilingampally.

Rainfall recorded: University of Hyderabad 148.5 mm, MMTS Lingampally 114 mm, Chandanagar 109.8 mm. In contrast, Secunderabad, Golconda and LB Nagar saw under 10 mm.

Lingampally railway underpass turned into a waterbody, blocking traffic during peak hours on both sides. In Chandanagar, floodwaters entered shopping complex cellars along the national highway, damaging stores. Nallagandla's Tellapur-Nallagandla Road was inundated after evening rains, stranding residents in gated communities. Kondapur saw two-wheelers stuck in knee-deep water.

GHMC's disaster response force deployed across affected zones including Santosh Nagar, Champapet and Kondapur to clear drains and pump water. HYDRAA commissioner A.V. Ranganath visited flood-prone sites including Lingampally railway underpass and Kasoros Apartments, identifying lack of drainage routes from upstream areas into Gopi Cheruvu as causing severe backflow. Officials directed to lower water levels in Gopi Cheruvu and Chakali Cheruvu and speed up stormwater canal construction in Bachupally.

In Upparapally, an internal link drain was dug and operationalised within 12 hours to protect Ashok Vihar Colony, which had faced flooding for seven years.

IMD issued yellow alert till June 14 for continued light to moderate rain and gusty winds. Officials flagged concerns over urban runoff and blocked lakes. Residents urged long-term drainage upgrades near Gopi Cheruvu and Palle Cheruvu.
