Residents of Sector Delta 1 in Greater Noida, home to approximately 25,000 people, have faced severe water supply issues for the past fortnight, with negligible supply since Tuesday.

Two of three motor pump sets that fill the sector's water tank have malfunctioned. Residents on higher floors particularly affected by low pressure from reduced supply.

RWA President Pramod Bhati stated water pressure has been low for 10-15 days and called for immediate repair of the faulty motor pump set and standby motors to prevent future disruptions.

Greater Noida Authority Manager Swatantra Verma acknowledged the problem with two malfunctioning water motors (including the backup) and stated repairs were underway with supply expected to be restored shortly. By Wednesday evening water had returned but low pressure persisted.

RWA officials are in constant contact with Authority work circle 5 team for resolution.

Residents of Delta 1 reported foul-smelling water and illnesses including diarrhoea, vomiting and stomach ache. The Greater Noida Authority said Wednesday’s preliminary checks found no evidence of sewage mixing in potable water, but detected a faulty household connection and a pipeline leak. Water samples collected during evening supply hours are being tested; results are awaited. The authority said the damaged pipeline was repaired and the situation was normal.

On Thursday, teams from the Dadha community health centre in Dankaur surveyed 158 households and identified seven residents with health issues: one diarrhoea case, one vomiting case, two fever cases and three cases of cold and cough. Workers distributed 10 ORS packets per household. The Delta 1 RWA said around eight to 10 residents had symptoms lasting four to five days. The sector has six residential blocks and an estimated 20,000 residents; a similar water-contamination issue reportedly affected another block four to five months earlier.

ACEO Sunil Kumar Singh visited the sector. CEO N G Ravi Kumar ordered random water-quality testing citywide, including industrial, commercial, IT and institutional areas. Residents were asked to report water concerns to 9205691408 or 8937024017.

Greater Noida authority increased land allotment rates by 5% across all categories.

Authority waived Rs 100/day penalty on unregistered flats for three months. Nearly 30,000 flats remain unregistered.

Board approved Rs 5,600 crore budget for 2025-26: Rs 1,400 crore for land acquisition, Rs 1,973 crore for construction and development, Rs 515 crore for village development, Rs 292 crore for capital payments.

Capital projects include sports complex in Greater Noida West, synthetic track at Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex, grounds in Greater Noida east and west, multipurpose halls, Aqua Line metro extension in Greater Noida West, elevated road from Shahberi to Crossings Republik Ghaziabad.

Development budget covers foot overbridges, sewage treatment plants, underpasses, structured parks, electric substations, hospitals, health centres. Green belt target: Rs 100 crore.
