Noida plans 10-lane Yamuna corridor for Jewar airport access

Noida Authority will upgrade a four-lane road to 10 lanes along the Yamuna River to handle traffic from the opening Jewar airport in September 2026.

Key facts

A 10-lane corridor along the Yamuna River will link Sector 94 in Noida with Gharbara village in Greater Noida and connect to the Yamuna Expressway. The existing four-lane road will be upgraded to 10 lanes. The corridor aims to serve as a dedicated high-capacity route for airport-bound traffic, reducing dependence on the Yamuna Expressway.

Additional infrastructure: Chilla Elevated Road connecting Mayur Vihar with Mahamaya Flyover (targeted completion December 2027); elevated link from Mahamaya Flyover to Okhla Bird Sanctuary Metro Station to bypass expressway traffic.

Jewar airport is 70 km from central Noida Sector 18, with travel time of 45–55 minutes via Yamuna Expressway. International flight operations expected to commence September 2026, with routes to Dubai, Singapore, and Zurich. Aqua Line Metro extension and high-speed RRTS link under construction with 2028 completion target.
