Sector 17 is the oldest sector of Gurugram. It is located immediately next to the NH-48, and has close proximity to MG Road, Cyber Hub, Sector 29 and Udyog Vihar.
Initially only Army, Navy and Air force officers were allotted plots here. Later the bookings opened for even the IAS and IFS Officers. Over a period of time, approx 30% have either sold out or died and their children have inherited or they too have sold off and moved away. Though the Sector is now having mixed ownership., the ethics have somewhat remained and not got fully diluted. Therefore it is a decent living area and not spoilt by the Neo-Rich glitterati of Gurugram. The cost of living too has remained moderate and is at least 20-25% lower than in the DLF Sectors and the Palams or Ansals of the world.
One can easily find access to Delhi due to the fact that MG Metro Station is just 3 minutes away, and the Delhi Gurgaon border (Erstwhile Toll Barrier) is located approx 4 km away.
All in all, its an ideal sector to rent a place in, for working professionals whose place of work is Cyber Hub / Udyog Vihar / MG Road or even Delhi.
Sector 17 Enjoys the advantage of a "Sabzi Mandi" which is set up on every tuesday and saturday and the diaspora of Gurgaon come here for shopping for fruits and veggies.

Sector-17 is very centrally located in terms of Gurgaon. Sector17 has all the amenities required for modern day to day living. It is located behind Iffco chowk very close to Westin hotel.The sector is a link between old and new Gurgaon. Sector 17 is considered as a VIP colony in Gurgaon because it houses all top bureaucrats, politicians, top armed forces personnel.
Sector 17 is also very secure. It has a huge market area having prominent banks, ATMs, doctors, medical shops/chemist, etc. The roads are wide and clean. Sector 17 has the best gardens in Gurgaon within the sector and maintenance of all roads and parks has been done in a very regular way. The association of sector 17 has done a good job.
