Delhi’s Public Works Department has started preparing the detailed project report for a ₹453.95 crore, 1-kilometre-long road network along both sides of the Najafgarh drain. Officials plan to visit the entire stretch. Work is expected to begin in May 2026 and finish by November 2027.

The corridor will include tree planting, landscaping and street lighting. It is intended to ease congestion, improve links between rural Delhi and arterial roads, and provide an alternative intra-city route. Areas expected to benefit include Uttam Nagar, Vikaspuri, Najafgarh, Bijwasan, Chhawla, Goyla Dairy, Dwarka, Baprola, Nilothi, Paschim Vihar, Rajouri Garden and Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Delhi’s finance expenditure committee, chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, approved a ₹454-crore project to build a two-lane road corridor along both banks of the Najafgarh drain, with completion scheduled for November 2027. It is intended to reduce pressure on arterial roads, travel time, fuel consumption and vehicle emissions, while improving links between urban and rural areas.

A 5.9-km stretch will run along the left bank from Jhatikra Bridge to Chhawla Bridge. From Chhawla to Basaidarapur, roads will be built on both sides for 27.4 km, bringing the total developed length across the banks to 60.7 km. The corridor will connect with Outer Ring Road at Keshopur, Inner Ring Road at Basaidarapur, Pankha Road at Vikaspuri, Najafgarh Road at Kakrola and UER-II at Dhulsiras. It will also intersect Shivaji Marg and link to NH-9/Rohtak Road, IGI Airport and Dwarka Expressway.

Expected beneficiaries include residents of Uttam Nagar, Vikaspuri, Najafgarh, Bijwasan, Chhawla, Goyla Dairy, Dwarka, Baprola, Nilothi, Paschim Vihar and Rajouri Garden. Connectivity to Gurgaon's Sectors 104 and 110 is also expected to improve.

Delhi Jal Board will carry out interconnection work on April 21, affecting water supply in parts of Delhi.

• Work on the 1,200 mm Dwarka water main at Ranhola Mod will stop evening supply from 3 pm to 8 pm. Affected areas include Udyog Nagar DSIDC, Jwala Puri R Block, GH-12 Paschim Vihar Rishal Garden, Chander Vihar, Ranhola Baprola, Jai Vihar GOC, Chanchal Park, CIG Flats Hastsal, Vikas Nagar GOC, Uttam Nagar GOC, Jai Vihar, Om Vihar 1–5, Maharani Enclave, Ram Chander Enclave, Pratap Enclave, Shiv Vihar, Rajan Vihar, Hastsal Vihar, Press Enclave and Anand Vihar.
• Interconnection work on the 1,000 mm feeder line at Dwarka CT-4 and CT-6, fed by Dwarka WTP, will affect Dwarka command areas from 10 am to 10 pm.

Residents were advised to store sufficient water.

The Public Works Department is planning underpasses at Andheria Mor in south Delhi and Peeragarhi Chowk in west Delhi to decongest two of the Capital's busiest intersections. PWD minister Parvesh Verma directed officials to prepare detailed project reports (DPRs) for both sites, with an agency to be hired soon. The Delhi government allocated over ₹3,800 crore for roads and flyovers in its budget.

Peeragarhi Chowk is a major intersection on the Outer Ring Road, a choke point for traffic between north Delhi, west Delhi, and Bahadurgarh in Haryana. The road is surrounded by industrial areas including Udyog Nagar, Mundka and Mangolpuri, and residential areas like Paschim Vihar. Four traffic intersections on a short corridor, mixing of vehicular and pedestrian traffic, on-street parking, banquet halls, and unhindered incoming traffic from Vikaspuri to Wazirabad add to congestion.

Andheria Mor caters to traffic heading towards IGI airport, Gurugram, and Qutub Minar complex. Road width is insufficient near Fortis hospital traffic signal, with encroachments near Masoodpur and Mahipalpur. Encroachment by shops, street vendors, and on-street parking adds to chaos. Past decongestion attempts have not been substantial.

CRRI chief scientist S Velmurugan noted underpasses help with congestion but warned that design must be scientifically decided with proper drainage to prevent inundation during rainfall, and better public transport should be planned as a long-term solution.

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi inaugurated the six-lane, 1.12-km Punjabi Bagh Flyover on January 2, 2025. It bypasses three traffic lights and connects Azadpur to Najafgarh via Punjabi Bagh, Basai Darapur and Paschim Vihar, improving travel between Azadpur, Raja Garden, Paschim Vihar, Najafgarh and ESI Hospital.

The flyover is expected to save 11 lakh litres of fuel annually, reduce pollution by an amount equivalent to planting 65,000 trees and save commuters 40,000 hours daily. Atishi said it would ease traffic for more than 3 lakh people; the article also states that around 3.45 lakh people are expected to use it daily. It complements the Moti Nagar Flyover, converted from a single-lane to a double-lane structure in March 2024.
