The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) demolished an unauthorized portion of Dargah Panch Peeran in west Delhi's Mangolpuri Industrial Area Phase-II on Wednesday with heavy police deployment. DDA stated demolition was carried out after obtaining approval from the religious committee and completing legal formalities, following a show cause notice issued in 2024 to illegal occupants. Around 90% of the structure was demolished. Three police teams were deployed from 6am; a few locals protested but were removed. Dargah caretaker Maqbool Hasan disputed claims, stating the shrine had existed for over 100 years across generations and that no proper notice was provided. He alleged police arrived around 4-5am and threatened arrest when he requested court proceedings. Advocate Anas Tanwir issued a legal notice to the lieutenant governor, Delhi Police and DDA officials on Wednesday, stating the religious structure had existed peacefully for years and that demolition without due process would violate Supreme Court guidelines.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is planning to set up a 300 tonnes-per-day biogas plant at Ghazipur dairy farm on around five acres of land. The tender will be issued in the next few days, with the proposal placed before the House later in April 2026.

The plant is part of MCD's action plan to prevent dairy waste from reaching the Yamuna through city drains. Work includes ten biogas plants, nine wastewater treatment facilities, drainage overhaul in dairy colonies, and sedimentation chamber development.

MCD and Delhi government are collaborating with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) to manage waste from dairies and cow shelters. MCD oversees 11 authorized dairy colonies in Delhi.

Operational facility: Nangali dairy biogas plant processing 200 TPD. Under construction: Goyla dairy and Ghogha dairy plants.

Proposed ten additional biogas plants at Bhalswa dairy, Masoodpur dairy, Madanpur Khadar, Sarita Vihar, Mangolpuri (Outer Ring Road), Pitampura, Sector 3 Rohini, Sagarpur, and Sri Ram Colony (Khajuri Khas), with cumulative capacity of 1400 TPD waste.

The Public Works Department is planning underpasses at Andheria Mor in south Delhi and Peeragarhi Chowk in west Delhi to decongest two of the Capital's busiest intersections. PWD minister Parvesh Verma directed officials to prepare detailed project reports (DPRs) for both sites, with an agency to be hired soon. The Delhi government allocated over ₹3,800 crore for roads and flyovers in its budget.

Peeragarhi Chowk is a major intersection on the Outer Ring Road, a choke point for traffic between north Delhi, west Delhi, and Bahadurgarh in Haryana. The road is surrounded by industrial areas including Udyog Nagar, Mundka and Mangolpuri, and residential areas like Paschim Vihar. Four traffic intersections on a short corridor, mixing of vehicular and pedestrian traffic, on-street parking, banquet halls, and unhindered incoming traffic from Vikaspuri to Wazirabad add to congestion.

Andheria Mor caters to traffic heading towards IGI airport, Gurugram, and Qutub Minar complex. Road width is insufficient near Fortis hospital traffic signal, with encroachments near Masoodpur and Mahipalpur. Encroachment by shops, street vendors, and on-street parking adds to chaos. Past decongestion attempts have not been substantial.

CRRI chief scientist S Velmurugan noted underpasses help with congestion but warned that design must be scientifically decided with proper drainage to prevent inundation during rainfall, and better public transport should be planned as a long-term solution.
