Nellore NTR Centre to Be Developed Like Hyderabad’s Necklace Road

Nellore officials announced plans to develop the NTR Centre near Irukalala Parameswari temple on the lines of Hyderabad’s Necklace Road.

Nellore Urban Development Authority chairman Kotamreddy Srinivasulu Reddy and Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy announced on July 17, 2026, that the NTR Centre near Irukalala Parameswari temple would be developed on the lines of Hyderabad’s Necklace Road. They inspected the site where a bronze statue of former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao will be installed.
Ganesh Ghat will be beautified with welcome arches ahead of Vinayaka Chaturthi. TDP State spokesperson K. Giridhar Reddy said villages in Nellore Rural constituency would receive funds for infrastructure and basic amenities. The constituency secured development projects worth ₹851 crore during the coalition government’s first two years. Giridhar Reddy also attended the inauguration of a village health clinic in Gollakandukur.

The Buddha Purnima Project, a wing of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), is preparing a master plan for a climate-conscious makeover of Hussainsagar and surrounding attractions, including NTR Gardens, Lumbini Park, Necklace Road (PVNR Marg), People’s Plaza, Laserium, the Ambedkar Statue, Martyrs’ Memorial, NTR Memorial, Sanjeevaiah Park and Lake View Park. HMDA Urban Forestry Director G Rohit Reddy said the plan aims to unlock the area’s commercial, recreational and urban-landscape potential.
HMDA plans 213 urban parks across the Core Urban Region. Of 23 major colony parks identified, 18 are complete and work is under way on five. In 2025-26, HMDA planted 20.25 lakh saplings in 26 Urban Reserve Forest blocks, raised 4.25 crore saplings across 42 nurseries, and translocated 1,520 of 4,230 trees along proposed Paradise-Dairy Farm Road (NH-44) and Paradise-Shamirpet ORR elevated corridors. Treated water from Coca-Cola’s bottling plant will irrigate ORR plantations through 20 storage sumps. Six corporate-managed parks saved HMDA Rs 5.79 crore.

The inspection followed an irrigation department complaint that construction was underway without its permission. Department officials said they had not approved the construction. Authorities examined the site and will conduct a detailed inquiry, review the project’s records and permissions, and decide on further action based on the findings.
